Scorn

2022

Can't play this game without getting a massive headache from the fov. Really cool that they only added it in after people complained and then it comes with a warning that it will cause glitches and performance issues if you increase it, very cool

It's a shame that it was never localized officially, there is an english patch though. Really cool story but the game basically plays itself due to the lock-on that auto tracts all the enemies when you aren't playing the dude with the flashlight and the ridiculous amount of resources you can buy at any save point

Currently my GOTY. The gameplay is incredibly smooth. Could use some better settings like being able to make subtilties bigger and a different color, same with the hud. The story was cool but i think i like some of the previous entries' stories a bit more

Coming back to add to this review now that I have completed NG++, got the true ending, completed the entire arena and all the missions. The game continues to be impressive in game-feel at every moment. Its so addicting to play and so easy to just boot up missions and have a blast with them. Even going back to the drawing board with builds in the lab is fun. There are a few stinker missions like Depths 1 which i despise and wish i didn't have to play through 3 times.

--Spoilers--

The story actually got even weaker for me now that i've seen everything. The Flames of the Raven ending feels like the one that got the most attention and is the only one i really liked. The other two felt both a little short with the narrative and gameplay. Final boss of the Liberator ending doesn't have a phase 2 for some reason? The true ending final boss was fun but its set piece was not nearly as memorable as some of the others moments earlier in the game which is kinda disappointing given how much you have to do to get here. I wish the story stayed more in the horrors of corporate proxy wars for resources like it was in the opening hours. The most memorable story moment for me is the mission where you go and kill a test pilot who sounds like he's just a kid getting caught up in all of this. I wanted more of those harrowing moments like this found in the earlier games

PEAK. JACK GARLAND IS MY GOAT

You know most games have a rough first entry that gets ironed out with sequels that are even better than the one before it. This is one of the rare cases where the first game is the best and the series becomes progressively more and more dog shit as it goes on.

They put his ass in a bakugan

Worse than the original but better than people say it is

The framerate in this game sucks fucking ass, never call for mikahail's help because his fireballs just make the game a slide show. Annoyingly frustrating at multiple points especially when it tries to be self aware about how shit the gameplay is then still makes you do it's mind numbing menial tasks anyways. I'd take Drakengard 1's boring & repetitive gameplay that at least runs well over this shit anyday. Once you get past the layers of shit there is a real gem hidden with this game's story and music. Sadly all the dlc is $35 on the psn store which shuts down in a few months, thanks sony!

How does this game exist? Its been 3 years and it doesn't feel real. It's so good that it feels like its always been there and the concept of being pre-DMC 5 is alien at this point

ruined horror games for years to come, pretty neato tho

A story of two sigmas grinding the world into ruin

This review was written before the game released

The true litmus test to see if you have the refined palate for kino or if you will get filtered

interesting concept and the gameplay is decent
but I hate the idea of a game that exists to prove to a company that people are willing to spend money on a property

Pros:
- It’s amazing how much more vast and full of content the game feels due to its verticality, essentially tripling the map size as you can now seamlessly transition from the surface, the sky and its floating islands, and deep underground in the Depths. There are full sized caves now, far more to explore and more enjoyable ways to get around with the addition of Zonai devices, more quests and lively areas, etc
- The new powers (Ultrahand/Recall/Ascend/Fuse) are brilliant and more interesting to use in general, going hand in hand with immensely impressive physics that I’m honestly unsure how they pulled off. Even enjoyed the shrines a lot here compared to what I remember in BotW
- Good story (keeping a similar structure to BotW pretty much). I adored the ending moments especially though, much improved over its predecessor there
- Towers shooting you into the air to scan instead of making you climb them is an excellent change and makes getting around the map much faster
- Actual dungeons (if fairly short and easy by the time I got to them)
- Fantastic music from start to finish

Cons:
- While visually TotK is held up by its art direction, the hardware unsurprisingly lets it down. Image quality is frankly poor, and there are numerous times where the frame rate drops from being decently stable to the 20s if not lower (mainly in denser areas). Load times are fairly quick though
- Combat is basically the same and just alright, Fuse makes it better but I’m still not a fan of durability and constantly scrolling through menus for items much
- Koroks and that guy holding the same Hudson sign everywhere

Ran through arcade mode as Naruto. Deleted save data afterward because I noticed the previous owner had some data with use of Sasuke and Neji, where previously it looked like data had been wiped already. Proceeded to beat Story Mode. I appreciate how it has you use Orochimaru at one point, instead of solely using good guys.
