Pretty fun game! The art style upgrade is a huge boon, the music is stellar, and the gameplay is generally pretty fun, even the stealth aspects. My main complaints are that Armageddon missions are too difficult to complete, the final boss was an enormous pain to beat, and the writing has aged in a weird way, on account of being from the 00s, but not made by American developers. Dan Teasdale was the original game's lead designer, and I can see inklings of the humor of No Goblin's games in it.
As someone that played the original Destroy All Humans and its sequel to death on PS2 back in the day, honestly this is one of the best game remakes I've ever seen. As far as staying true to the original but improving it making smart changes, Destroy All Humans Remake is a slam dunk.
There's so many little changes they made to the remake to simplify things and make the game just smoother and more fun to play. It puts actions on single buttons that required multiple before. You can hover, aim and shoot, use PK abilities all at the same time and it just works so well. No more concentration meter. It takes mechanics from the sequel and retro fits them to the original. As far as added content, they added a bunch of new side missions which are quite fun if not spectacular.
At the end of the day it's still essentially the PS2 original and certain things haven't been changed or modernised. But that's fine. I didn't expect much more than the same game but with a visual bump going in so for so much of the game to be improved was quite impressive to me.
It's a really fun game and I definitely think for the most part effectively replaces the original, which is the best I can ask for from a remake.

This shit rules. The Armquist fight is particularly enjoyable. Its a blast just flying and strafing around, dodging bullets and tank shells in huge firefights. The original was made in a time where the success of the GTA games prompted more mayhem-based open world violence, and it SUCCEEDS. The writing is funny too, not hilarious, but pretty funny.

Stellar remake of an already beloved classic, which humor and satire hasn't aged a bit! Also a lot of mechanics are improved significantly to fit today's standards.
This is how you do remakes, not just tweak the graphics but build an updated version of the old game while preserving its original essence.

I don't know how much has changed in this remake, but gameplay still sometimes feel a little old and limited. Destruction can be fun sometimes but it feels like I wrote earlier - limited. To the point where I felt it wasn't about fun in destroying things because there are so many other mechanics that doesn't fit overall gameplay like pulling out brains and changing forms. It wasn't bad, but nothing special either
I respect it for what it is but Destroy All Humans is a mixed bag experience for me. I think the wacky concepts and world carry this one pretty hard to cover for its questionable game design, even to include gameplay. Im glad I played it, but I cant say this game is as good as it should've been. Maybe 2s better, Ill have to see.
