I was not ready to give this 5 stars, but I have been recently into playing PS1 classics that I haven't played before.
It's a monster of Metroidvania games. Glad it got the attention it deserved where games were transitioning to 3D. Dracula's Castle is great. Not as into the Inverted Castle where the difficulty is most apparent and spikes deal 300 damage.
The game is super goth, but what's with that credits theme?

Beat the game, missing only 4 pages for the manual.
A mix of 2D Zelda, Metroidvania level progression, and souls-like difficulty. Whenever you save at a save-point, enemies respawn. Whenever you die, you will respawn at the save-point Combat will involve lots of dodging and managing stamina.
Absolutely love the in-game manual. Because the game's language is original and completely foreign, you're gong to be using the in-game manual a lot. The manual itself is illustrated very well and is heavily inspired by the NES Legend of Zelda's manual. The camera is also always in an isometric view, and it is highly recommended to explore every corner for shortcuts and secrets.
As someone who skipped over Elden Ring as this year's big soul's game, I am glad I waited for this. First contender for my Game of the Year

Amazing co-op with great puzzle solving. Every level brings a new mechanic to the game. While not all are too unique, the ones that are included are very creative. Fantastic writing as well. Despite beating in 10 hours, it did feel as though the game went on a little longer than it should. I don't I have had so much puzzle-solving since Portal 2, in fact, it might have taken this Co-Op Puzzle-Solving subgenre to a whole new level.
A must-play with two friends!

The game is just as short as I was told (beat it in 3 hour & 47 min), but it was still very fun. Very linear, but starts out very intense since Nemesis is introduced in the first 5 minutes. I would rank this lower if I had paid full price, but I got this for less than $15. That price is worth multiple playthroughs and speedruns. Although, playing as Carlos in the Police Station mostly felt like a DLC campaign for RE2
