Good way to kick off 2024. Up there with Super Mario Bros. 3 as one of the most technically impressive games on the NES. It's very commendable how they managed perfect the 2D Kirby formula so early into the series' life. The boss fights were a huge highlight for me, especially that final boss. Would recommend you check it out.

Imagine Super Meat Boy but without the charming art style and great platforming and instead has a level called "McCardiac Arrest".

Probably my favourite of the three new game modes added in Chapter 5. Races can be very intense and challenging but also very rewarding at the end. I only have 2 major issues with it that are stopping me from liking it more: the physics and the auto-drifting.
The physics feel very clunky at times and it’s very easy to find yourself off the track or hitting into barriers, especially if you’re in a crowd of other cars. Speaking of other cars, it feels like every car on the track except for yours is the most powerful object imaginable. It only takes one bump on the side to send you completely spiralling.
Now for my other big complaint: the automatic drifting. It sucks. It just seems so pointless, especially when there is already a button binded to drifting by default. It is only there for newbies to the racing genre and it would be nice if there was an option to turn it off.

Pretty fun with some decently challenging platforming. Tails is kind of a useless inclusion in the long term as his only real use is doing a bit more damage to bosses. I feel like some parts of the levels go out of their way to punish you for no reason like putting spikes in inconvenient spots or planting a spring in a spot that will lead to your death which is a bit annoying as it encourages a more paranoid playstyle in a game all about going fast.

Even in the modern age of video games, Half-Life 2 is a technical masterpiece. The Source Engine is one of the most fine tuned engines I've ever played with. It's still fun to mess around with physics even after all these years. The gameplay takes full advantage of its new engine, especially with the introduction of the Gravity Gun. You can throw explosive barrels at enemies, toss back grenades they throw, use furniture to help cover gunfire, etc. The environments are stellar, my favourite being Ravenholm with its dark lighting and gruesome details like corpses being hung up on walls. The story is a bit basic and the dialogue could be better but this is a game that prides itself on its gameplay first and foremost so it doesn't really matter in the long run. An easy 10/10.

Some of the most fun I've had in a game in years. The puzzles are hard yet fun and rewarding. The characters are so interesting and lovable. When I finished the main game's story I was desperate to see more of these characters and this world. 100% recommend.

A nice horror game, knows how to really make an atmosphere and has really good timing with jumpscares. Some minor complaints is really just how I don't like how Chapter 3 is just a massive fetch quest.

Very fun, the tycoon sections are probably my favorite parts of the whole game. I also think that the nights in this game are the best in the whole series ascetically.

An alright top down adventure game. It’s weird to think this game has aged specifically in its writing even though its only 2 years old but nevertheless it is the writing that kinda dampened the experience for me. It definitely gives off that sort of “reddit good boy uwu” kinda humour which I guess sort of fits with the premise of the game but it still put me a bit off. On the topic of the premise, it’s kinda hit or miss for me especially near the end. I won’t go into spoilers but the game starts to take it’s story far too seriously for a game where you play as a living turnip who fights snails. Gameplay is fine albeit a bit barebones. It mostly consists of backtracking across the map and giving NPCs items to progress. Puzzles are very simple and easy which might be a positive or a negative depending on the person. Combat is very simple but works well enough for a game like this. The biggest thing I can recommend out of this game is the art style and soundtrack. Overall I had a fine time with this game but I doubt I’ll come back to it.

Amazing game that really knows its identity even despite being the first in a series. Pikmin has always been one of Nintendo's more experimental series especially when it came down to marketing this game. Pikmin is an odd case when it comes to its target demographic. The visuals are too colorful and cute to market to the more edgy teenage crowd but too much cruel and fucked up things happen to the Pikmin for it to appeal to more casual players. This leaves Pikmin with a playerbase of people who want to play more artistic and creatively driven games. It was a bold move by Nintendo to put out a game like this but its rewarded them in the present day with the Pikmin series being hailed as a cult classic. A big gripe I see a lot of people have for Pikmin, especially the first game, is the time/day limit. While it may seem overwhelming and daunting at first the time limit really adds a lot to that micro-management gameplay and really forces you to use your time wisely and do as much as you can in a day. My biggest issue with the game is the Pikmin themselves. The AI for the Pikmin can be a bit annoying to work around sometimes. Pikmin can sometimes fall behind with the rest of the group or trip up while moving, causing you to have to go back for them. Sometimes they'll just decide to do they're own thing like pull out grass for nectar or start randomly carrying things back to the Onions. But other than that small problem this is a great puzzle game that feels very rewarding to complete.

Pretty good brawler and one of the more impressive licensed games I've played. The setting and story is pretty interesting and its a fun concept for a Batman adventure. Combat can feel a bit sloppy and repetitive but it works. I do wish they evolved the combat more as the game progressed though instead of just adding one or two new types of enemies for you to fight. The Scarecrow Nightmare sections were the highlight of the game for me and I wish they were more sprinkled throughout the game. Looking forward to playing Arkham City next.

I've always liked Scott's troll games just because of the amount of fan service he puts into them, with this one being no exception. Levels like Merch Cemetery and Meme Cavern make it feel kinda rewarding keeping up with these games and the community for so long.
The game itself is alright. Controls can feel a bit awkward at times but work regardless. Levels are inconsistent with how long they are. Some are long enough but others feel very short. Overall it was a cool little game and we got a nice teaser for the movie out of it.

I've had this in my library for more than a year now so it felt gratifying to finally complete it.
It's a very fun platformer that can really test your reflexes and has a lot of creative ideas. My only real problem with the game is that it feels very simple. Levels don't really stand out that much and it feels like it starts repeating ideas near the end instead of introducing new ones. I played a little bit of the co-op story and it was pretty fun. It does really give you the choice to actually complete levels together or just cause chaos amongst each other for an hour. The art looks like a good evolution of how it look in Castle Crashers and the character designs are very creative especially Hatty, he's got such a simple design that's really fun to draw. Overall I enjoyed my time with Battleblock Theater and can see why people love it so much alongside The Behemoth's other games.

Meh. Not really worth your time unless you're a big Half-Life fan. Still a neat bit of history I guess but even for a tech demo its a bit underwhelming.

I've never really been a big Counter-Strike guy, I only played like 40 minutes of CS:GO and even then I just played deathmatch. I decided to check out CS2 purely out of curiosity for the new Source 2 engine and what it was like but I surprisingly found myself enjoying this game. I'm no good at it and constantly die but I still find it fun enough to continue playing. I am a bit annoyed that this did replace CS:GO mainly just because I like it when companies preserve their games but other than that it's a fun game and a good upgrade graphically to CS:GO.
