I would consider this to be the definitive Mario Kart experience. While a game like MK8DX has incredible graphics and many characters, karts and tracks to play on, I feel like it misses on probably my favourite aspect of the series as a whole: stupid dumb fun. Mario Kart Wii holds no prisoners, this game is fucked up stupidly unfair. The item balance in this game makes no sense whatsoever, you could get a star at third place meanwhile the guy in last just got a banana peel. I love it. I think its a great addition to the gameplay as it adds to that competitive atmosphere when playing with friends, the dread that at any moment any one of you will get some bullshit item and screw everybody over. Other than that, the game knows how much is enough with it’s main content. While I love having a massive roster of characters in a game (my favourite game ever is smash ultimate ffs) I feel like MKWii has the perfect amount of playable characters, striking that good balance of mainstays in the series and newcomers. The track selection in this on the other hand is a bit more of a mixed bag. The original courses in this game are some of my favourites of the entire series being so much more creative than any else we had seen in the series at that point. My main issues with this game is the retro courses and how you would be able to instantly guess that these are old tracks from their presentation. They’re not bad by any means, I think the selection is good for the most part but visually they’re not on par with the visuals of the new tracks. Overall this is my favourite Mario Kart game of all time and I doubt anything will top it for me.

I've never really been a big Counter-Strike guy, I only played like 40 minutes of CS:GO and even then I just played deathmatch. I decided to check out CS2 purely out of curiosity for the new Source 2 engine and what it was like but I surprisingly found myself enjoying this game. I'm no good at it and constantly die but I still find it fun enough to continue playing. I am a bit annoyed that this did replace CS:GO mainly just because I like it when companies preserve their games but other than that it's a fun game and a good upgrade graphically to CS:GO.

It’s going to be a bit hard for me to write about my feelings for this game so please pardon me if I loose a bit of focus in this review.
One of the greatest games I think I’ve ever played. I know the gameplay is a bit controversial with people due to it changing directly commanding party members like a traditional RPG to having them being AI but I think it’s very overhated and adds more to the immersion of the game. Sure, some of the quirks of the AI can be a bit annoying but if you know how to fully take advantage of the tactics menu it’s not a big issue. The story present here is so unexpectedly mature and thoughtful and it’s made better with likeable characters who you grow to care about throughout the game thanks to excellent writing. The day cycle is such a unique gameplay feature that I rarely see other RPGs do. It’s nice to have breaks in between the dungeon crawling and story events by making friends or going shopping. The social links themselves are very good as well (aside from the gourmet king) and a smart way of implementing side characters into the story. The main characters themselves are great too. Some of my favourites were Aigis, Mitsuru and Shinji (Elizabeth too but idk if I would consider her to be a “main” character). The actual gameplay during the Dark Hour is also a lot of fun. Personas are a pretty neat concept and having the ability to essentially have multiple movesets at your disposal adds another layer of strategy to the game that I really enjoy. Tartarus, while it can be tedious sometimes, is a fun area to explore and fight enemies in. I also like how each block changes the visual style to keep things interesting as you progressively make your way up. Overall I greatly enjoyed my time with this game. I would highly recommend playing it, especially if you love character-focused stories in media.

A fun co-op shooter. It can be very chaotic and challenging but getting to the end of a campaign feels very satisfying to do. The characters are very likeable and bounce off of each other very well. The different zombie types add more variation to the usual hordes of enemies. Different guns and melee weapons are fun to experiment with. My only real complaint is that campaigns can be a bit long which isn't ideal as you want the people playing with you to stay engaged and not get bored.

Genuinely makes the game a lot more fun both from a competitive and casual perspective. I hope they don’t get rid of it in the future as it’s really the only reason I still play Fortnite.

It's a great 2D Mario game and it's an actual miracle that they got it running on the NES of all things but I personally don't see how people could consider this to be the best 2D Mario game or even the best Mario game period. The idea and theme of the whole game being this show with the platforms being part of the set is really cool and creative. Levels are your typically Mario game levels but I feel like most of the levels don't take advantage of the game's gimmicks and power-ups like Super Mario World or even some of the NSMB games. The boss fights are pretty lacklustre and repetitive with only minor variations between the bosses. The artstyle I would consider to be the best out of the four NES Mario platformers, having more detail than the previous two but still keeping the simple charm of the designs. Overall it's a very good platformer with a lot of fun and creative ideas but I wouldn't say it's the very best in it's series.

Even in the modern age of video games, Half-Life 2 is a technical masterpiece. The Source Engine is one of the most fine tuned engines I've ever played with. It's still fun to mess around with physics even after all these years. The gameplay takes full advantage of its new engine, especially with the introduction of the Gravity Gun. You can throw explosive barrels at enemies, toss back grenades they throw, use furniture to help cover gunfire, etc. The environments are stellar, my favourite being Ravenholm with its dark lighting and gruesome details like corpses being hung up on walls. The story is a bit basic and the dialogue could be better but this is a game that prides itself on its gameplay first and foremost so it doesn't really matter in the long run. An easy 10/10.

One of the most fun and creative Mario games. It's such a shame that after this the only mainline 2D Mario platformers we would get is the generic NSMB games. You can tell that Nintendo really wanted to experiment with new ideas and with this being on the more powerful SNES, they were able to execute those ideas near perfectly. The sprite work might be some of my favourite in a Nintendo game, all the designs are simple yet charming and colorful. The levels are very creative with their themes, first you going through your usual green plains, then your running across a bridge, jumping on Cheep Cheeps that leap out at you, then your going in an underground cave with giant Monty Moles that you can use to traverse the level, then your exploring a haunted mansion trying to find the exit and it just gets more and more creative as the game goes on. The music is some of the most iconic and best in the series, ever song is catchy in its own special way. It is easily my favourite 2D Mario game and probably one of my top 3 platformers of all time.

Genuinely incredible mod that masterfully expands upon Half-Life's story. It brings together so many elements from across the series like the connections to the Portal games with characters like Wilson and bringing back enemies from the original Half-Life and it's expansion Opposing Forces in such a way that you can tell this was made by people that truly loved the series. The story is also surprisingly deep and existentially and really goes into how desperate the people who join the Combine are. It's really commendable how Breadman and his team managed to make such an amazing sequel to a fairly barebones mod. Would highly recommend.

God, what an experience.
I’ve been wanting to play Persona 5 for a LONG time now. I first became interested in the game from Joker being added to Smash Ultimate and being mesmerised by the game’s artstyle and music. Only problem was that P5 was a Playstation exclusive and I only had a Switch back then. Few years later, it’s announced that the modern Persona trilogy would be re-releasing on all modern platforms. I went ahead and wishlisted all the games on Steam as I thought that if I enjoyed P5, I would probably play the other games to. And that leads us to today, after I played Persona 3 and 4 earlier this year and finally played Persona 5 Royal after waiting all these years. And it was incredible.
First, I would like to go through all of my negatives with this game as I’d rather end this review on a positive note than a negative one. First issue I have is the cast of characters. This is by far the weakest cast of any of the Persona games I’ve played. This isn’t me saying they’re bad characters but they feel a lot more one-note than previous casts and they don’t really bounce off with each other like previous casts as well. It feels less like a friend group and more a group of people who happen to know each other through the MC. My other negative is that, just like Persona 4 Golden, it is painfully obvious when the original game was supposed to end and where the new content was added. I would’ve much preferred if the new content was more smoothly transitioned to from the main game.
And thats it. Those are pretty much all my negatives for this game. Onto the positives.
The story this game presents you with is incredible. There’s so many twists and turns and, despite having probably one of the biggest cast of main characters in a Persona game, each one get their own time to shine and go through their own arcs. The gameplay is the smoothest and cleanest the series has ever been, bringing back the series’s staple mechanics like the One More system and weaknesses to adding in completely new mechanics that add more strategy to the gameplay like Baton Passes, Negotiations, Gun damage, etc. This is also by far the most stylish Persona game with it’s UI. Everything pops with the game’s gorgeous artstyle with loads of detail being put into every part of the UI that makes the game a joy to look at. I also love the addition of the Phantom Thieves suits/costumes, it helps make each character that more unique and really helps exemplify their personalities. Another great thing about this game is the personalised dungeons (now named Palaces) return from Persona 4 but are even better now with them being fully designed dungeons that you actually can truly explore instead of randomly generated rooms each floor. The Palaces themselves are a treat to explore (except Okumura’s), with each having vivid imagery that gives you a great look into a character’s personality.
Persona 5 is one of the best games I’ve ever played. I would highly recommend it to anyone that is even the slightest bit interested as it is one of the best gaming experiences you can ever have.

Fun collection of levels from Sonic's past. The story here is really more just an excuse for things to make some sort of sense. My only gripes with the game are some level choices like Planet Wisp and the very lacklustre final boss.

I've had this in my library for more than a year now so it felt gratifying to finally complete it.
It's a very fun platformer that can really test your reflexes and has a lot of creative ideas. My only real problem with the game is that it feels very simple. Levels don't really stand out that much and it feels like it starts repeating ideas near the end instead of introducing new ones. I played a little bit of the co-op story and it was pretty fun. It does really give you the choice to actually complete levels together or just cause chaos amongst each other for an hour. The art looks like a good evolution of how it look in Castle Crashers and the character designs are very creative especially Hatty, he's got such a simple design that's really fun to draw. Overall I enjoyed my time with Battleblock Theater and can see why people love it so much alongside The Behemoth's other games.

Incredible. While I still prefer Persona 3 a lot more than this one, I can't deny this was such a fun trip of a game. I love how much more light-hearted it was and how great the characters were (favourites this time were Teddie, Kanji and Naoto). I do think the combat was a hell of a lot easier than P3FES but that could just be because I didn't put up with the AI party members this time. Even then I found myself clearing dungeons out extremely easily. I might try the game on a harder difficulty if I do a new game + run in the future to see if it would improve the combat. The story was incredibly good. Even with the lighter tone, the serious moments still hit hard and the mystery element is really neat idea. I do think the game kinda derails itself with the story with the extra content at the end but it still managed to make itself interesting. Excited to move on to Persona 5 (after I play some of the spin-off games like Arena and stuff first though).

Pretty fun with some decently challenging platforming. Tails is kind of a useless inclusion in the long term as his only real use is doing a bit more damage to bosses. I feel like some parts of the levels go out of their way to punish you for no reason like putting spikes in inconvenient spots or planting a spring in a spot that will lead to your death which is a bit annoying as it encourages a more paranoid playstyle in a game all about going fast.

Good way to kick off 2024. Up there with Super Mario Bros. 3 as one of the most technically impressive games on the NES. It's very commendable how they managed perfect the 2D Kirby formula so early into the series' life. The boss fights were a huge highlight for me, especially that final boss. Would recommend you check it out.
