Why is there a fucking stealth level?
Let's add variation, make the pace slower.
Tough Heroes become powerless,
sour tricks of cowardice,
instant game over.

@Funbil added it, thanks!
Metroid Zero Mission, Armored Core VI, and it's been forever but I remember either Bugs and Taz Time Busters or Duck Dodgers on N64 having stealth sections.
The mansion heist in Chrono Cross!
Disaster report 4
hedon had the bold idea of adding a terrible stealth sequence to their gzdoom shooter
@Vee thanks for the input! I added the first 2. maybe someone who knows which of the latter have that painful stealth section stumbles upon this list at one point or another. I am to lazy to Google it and I am legally obliged to never miss, so i can't just put both on here.
@Archagent added it, thanks for suffering thru that to gain that information.
@LordDarias Thanks Chief, you are too wise fr fr
@curse they sound like some ballsy innovators we aren't ready for yet. lmao
Thanks!
Thanks!
@thinkingfella It was far from suffering! Chrono Cross is a masterpiece :D
@thinkingfella yeah, just looked up quick a guide on Time Busters and that was the one, though it's not super annoying as an adult. I don't remember liking that one as much as Lost in Time, but I wanna give Duck Dodgers another play sometime...
@Archagent I meant more that specific part of the game lmao
if it's under 24+ hrs long I might give JRPGs another try with that one tho

@Vee perfect, i added it and thanks for finding that out G
@thinkingfella Would not recommend Chrono Cross to someone trying out JRPGs for the first time, it's pretty long (~50 hours for my wife to beat it recently) and the systems are pretty involved! Its predecessor Trigger is a much better entry game, but it's also way less interesting soooooooo
Gravity Rush 2 has some pretty annoying stealth sections in both the main game and side missions. Also Resident Evil 6 and Yakuza 4.
@sleepytitan Thanks, I'll add the other two, but rub your eyes sleepy, gravity rush 2 is already in this bitch lmao
@ThinkingFella Missed that shit hard, thanks lmaoo
Forsaken Fortress in Wind Waker
There's the Sherry section in Resident Evil 2 Remake but I like that part a lot. It's just a stealth level rather than a FUCKING stealth level

@Archagent good to know. I am pretty turned off by long ass games and most turn based combat, so getting into that genre seems pretty impossible ngl
@Chokes damn, none of the plp above knew about the wind waker one? All fake gamers like myself fr. Thanks real one
And yea, true I remember that part in RE2 remake, but not like that. It was a rare one that pulled it kinda off.

I knew about the Wind Waker one, I'm just a deranged Wind Waker hater who cannot bring herself to utter its name
@Archagent I hate to be like that, but you just uttered its name twice in a row
lmao gottem

Good list!
Gerudo Fortress escape in OOT
Deku Palace Garden in Majora's Mask might count too, but it's a lot less annoying than most of the stuff on this list
The Chapter 5 nightmare in Life is Strange (the soundtrack track is even called Stealth Nightmare ).

@cowboyjosh damn, OOT? another one to calls us all out as fake gamers smh
you think the composers fr tried to give the game design team a hint w that one, but they just wouldn't take it? If I was a real sleuth i would check if one of the composers is also credited as a playtester lmao

Mega Man X8 has a level where if you get seen by spotlights it spawns enemies. Can’t remember if that blocks an upgrade or not either.
@Cab thanks, there are so many goddam Megaman games there had to be at least one fitting the bill lmao
@Vee hard disagree on zero mission, the stealth placed in this was to make you feel like a badass once you eventually get the gravity suit. like a bird destroying his cage
@imshitting420 haven't played it, but the goal of that feeling is almost always the intention of the contrast a stealth section has to the rest of the action.
So in your opinion it pulled that off, didn't feel like an unnecessary limitation of player expression and wasn't just plain tedium for the sake of that contrast? like, the reason for and the lvl itself was fine?
Then I'll take it out

@ThinkingFella ive got a bias cuz i love metroid lol but looking at it objectively not only do i think what u just said but also it was a nice change of pace to be playing as zero suit samus, where it was a good challenge to be stealthy. i recommend zero mission its not only one of the best metroid games but also just a really good game. but its ok if u end up hating it tho when u get around to playing it
