the 7th gen exclusive shortlist
jump in; play has no limits
(the wii will be for another day)
i've always been particularly fond of the 7th console generation. maybe it's because that's when i started forming more critical opinions on the games i played, maybe it's because of the people i met - i don't doubt those being factors - but even if they weren't, i think i'd still find myself fascinated by the era
sure it marked a turning point where developers started overly gearing towards the mainstream - and that's in no small part due to the rising popularity of online gaming - but despite the "casualization" of the medium you may or may not take issue with, tons of quality games poured out of the 7th gen which are still deadlocked into their original platforms. lots of great stuff got totally and wrongfully shafted too, whether due to xenophobia, poor marketing, lack of online components to carry its legacy - or all of the above
i want to use this space to put a spotlight on shit that's been largely forgotten for the worse. if you see something you're not familiar with, i implore you to do a little research and see what you may have missed
not everything's particularly obscure or for everyone - i don't even necessarily enjoy everything here - but if i think it either has an audience or is otherwise noteworthy and it's not on pc or a modern console, it's getting added
