This one's on both PS4 and Switch, but PS4 will probably be cheaper and you can also do mods if you want to, but mods on PS4 are very limited.
Never actually played this one, but I will and I already know I'm gonna love it, so I'm prematurely recommending it to you I guess.

I would recommend picking this up for Playstation because the Switch version doesn't have online capabilities, which is a really fun part of the game.
DO NOT LOOK UP ANYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME. THIS GAME WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU GO IN AS BLIND AS POSSIBLE. NO SPOILERS AT ALL.
This one was a limited release, so it's not officially on any Nintendo stores, but you can find it easily enough on ebay or something. Compilation of Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy. If you had to only play one, it should be Galaxy. 64 and Sunshine are great but a lot more dated.
2 games in one. Bowser's Fury is a short masterpiece, and 3D World is a moderately sized really good game.
Remake of Super Mario Bros. 3 for the GBA. The original Mario 3 feels very outdated, so this is a better controlling version of it.
Haven't played this one since I was a little little kid, and even then, I'm probably having false memories. Still a classic though
