@DragonMarking made this mistake to, particularly because I ran with "tryhard rule-of-cool" on the noir brutalistic police cop who talks about everything like an apocalypse street walker. the style is more particular than the substance in this case. ultimately we can go off and make our own versions of the list, nothing stopping that, but I kind of agree with chandler that it doesnt fit in retrospect. hard list to add to because it already feels fairly complete.

@chandler, more lists are always a good thing, personally I couldn't care less about the overlap. the real issue is that games that are 'edgy' on a story basis would b way broader. like, almost every RPGmaker game I ever played would be on that list, at least if I made it. I do trust your discernment in looking for clear extremes, but even then I think its worth noting it would be the primary hurdle.

@Mur96 I know your just goofing around but if shitty Peta games and the worst Browser games ever made get to be on the site, guro porn games do to. if only for the reason that somebody probably played it so they should be able to have the public indecency to rate that game.

Afro Samurai's game seems like a bit of a no-brainer to add on here, stylish anime blood and gore and a whole lot of profanity
BlazBlue is another gimme, main character's named Ragna the Bloodedge, that's just scratching the surface
Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit is the kinda game that only someone like me could bring up but trust me on this one
Spawn: Armageddon is a Spawn game, but it also features Marilyn Manson so that just adds even more to its already immense amounts of edge

@sagemustdie when i first made this list i had blazblue on it, but i took the series off because i feel it's ultimately just over-the-top shounen anime stuff. ragna and a few other characters fit the bill, but the game isn't really consistently designed around that style

kingdom hearts lol

kingdom hearts 2 was one of the most prominent thoughts in my head when i came up with this list in the first place. it's the quintessential emo/hot topic/myspace game both stylistically and tonally. organization xiii is the most melodramatic concept imaginable and every square-based character design is nomura at his absolute max in the belts/zippers department

omg i forgot about code vein and it's many black and red coats, vampire motifs, belts and sharp appendages and also two (2) songs from Hyde of L'arc-en-Ciel fame appearing in cutscenes

code vein has actually come and gone and come again here and there as i've tried narrowing the criteria for this list. on one hand its brand of edgy is kinda separated from what i'm aiming for here, but on another vampires/black cloaks/whatever is what this shit is all about. i'll think about a more concrete revision later i guess

space funeral and world of horror were here because i felt their brand of horror was adjacent to this sort of crowd. they definitely are stretches however and have been axed

gears of war i'm torn on because i really feel the lancer's chainsaw bayonet and the game's overall hyperviolence is the most gaudy over the top edgy shit ever, but at the same time i'm not sure if it clicks the same way a case like splatterhouse or even twisted metal black would. i'll think on it
