Chrome-Plated Cartridges: Cyberpunk Video Games

A rough chronological overview of cyberpunk in video games. The term "cyberpunk" was first coined in 1982, and while it wouldn't be until the 90's that it saw mass acceptance in gaming, there have been games playing in the same world since Neuromancer was considered a hot new best-seller.

Some titles might not be purely cyberpunk (dystopian fiction, more general SF) or only have some cyberpunk elements (FF7 isn't cyberpunk, but Midgar is one of the most cyberpunk settings in video games).

I can't get Possessioner on the site. I tried to two months ago but they said the game appeared to have rape.

I don't know much about the specific content of Possessioner, but I could believe that it might have something that would disqualify it from being hosted here. PC-98 adventure games do tend to skew in that direction. I don't see ALPHA アルファ and Virgin Angel yet, but I'll add them as soon as they show up for me.
