My Top 25 Favorite Games of All Time

The ranked list of my personal favorite 25 games of all time from #1 - #25. Ordering these exactly is very difficult, but I've done my best. The top six are honestly all interchangeable, I think I love them all the same in different ways.

As I said in the list description, the top 5 are almost entirely equal, I cannot pick one single game as my favorite, so I wouldn't say that Breath of the Wild is my favorite, but it could be, depending on the day. I played this game for 2 months straight from the day it came out and as I mention in my review for the game, was genuinely concerned while playing it that there would ever be a game that felt so special as BOTW. It's a little silly in retrospect but it was a totally genuine thing I felt that I won't ever forget.
The game that has impacted my life more than anything, and it's not close. I've spent thousands of hours in Destiny 2 since launch day, and it has propelled me to a prominent role in several of the biggest communities for the games, meeting tons of people that have been important in my life at some point and just been a constant that I've never really got tired of for more than a couple months here and there. I legitimately played this game and NOTHING else for over an entire year straight from 2017-2018, I've never been more obsessed with a game in my life, and I've never done anything like that (and definitely won't again lol).
My favorite game in one of my favorite franchises. I really do think Pikmin 3 is one of the best Nintendo games ever made but Pikmin 2 has a truly special place in my heart and has a little bit more of that creepiness that Pikmin I think needs, and is also the most lengthy and content-filled game of the franchise. I've played through the game at least twice, and got every single treasure once.
FROM's magnus opus, genuinely the greatest open world ever made an experience that matches if not exceeds that of my experience with Breath of the Wild. Phenomenal game from start to beginning that's drop-dead gorgeous and just shows how FROM might be the best current Japanese developer.
Prime was actually the first Metroid game that I ever played and got me hooked on what I now consider to be my single favorite video game franchise. There is almost no game that I find as beautifully atmospheric as Prime 1, and deserves the recognition as one of the greatest games ever made.
One of my favorite childhood games, and one of the games that really got me into Nintendo. I spent so much time in this game, and got all 242 stars (Mario and Luigi). I also am very confident in saying that Super Mario Galaxy has a top 5 soundtrack of all time. A massive factor in my love for games to this day.
The game that I spent the most time on in my life before playing Destiny. I have so many memories from this game but it also got me interested in a bunch of other Nintendo franchises that I never ever knew existed. I am so sad that there was never anything like Subspace Emissary ever again because god, what an iconic game mode.
This game is really really close to perfect and one of my favorite experiences playing a video game from beginning to end. One of my favorite narratives of all time topped by one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, beautiful areas, fantastic dialogue and voice acting, and a unique vision unlike anything I've ever played before.
I managed to play this game just over 300 hours in the course of about two months, and honestly just could not get enough of it for awhile. The experience of going through every single monster in the game, spending hours upon hours conceptualizing perfect builds, and trying and trying to beat the hardest challenges of the game all the way through Fatalis. The wholistic experience of Iceborne, after everything has been released, is a truly phenomenal game, especially playing with friends. I'm so happy that I decided to experience this game
The best Wii U game and one of Nintendo's best games period. Pikmin 3 may be a little more lighthearted than the other Pikmin games but it in terms of the overall gameplay experience, it is definitely the most refined. The game is absolutely beautiful and was well worth the wait. This game is just SO good
Just more Galaxy, sometimes better at times, masterful throughout all the same. Just not quite as nostalgic/important of a game to me but this game is basically just as good in a vacuum as the original Galaxy from the soundtrack to the level design to the pure fun.
One of my favorite RPGs of all time, one that I played from beginning to end almost three times. Excellent writing and soundtrack, fantastic battle system, pacing, and one of the greatest final bosses ever.

Left me completely devastated. Easily one of the most powerful narratives I've ever experienced, right up there with Nier Automata. Perfect balance of psychological horror elements, quirkiness and charm, and heavy hitting emotional power.
More or less perfects the Xenoblade formula with one of my favorite casts of characters ever, genuinely genius storytelling, and excellent, polished, satisfying combat. Extremely memorable game that I believe to be one of the greatest JRPGs ever made, and managed to surpass Xenoblade 1.
Definitely my favorite indie game of all time. I beat this game on my first playthrough in just about 80 hours, and loved every second that I was able to stretch out of it. I say this as someone who's favorite game franchise is Metroid, but this is the greatest metroidvania of all time and achieves the true potential of the genre.
Super memorable RPG that is peak Final Fantasy, with some of the best character design and exploration in the franchise. Addicting, difficult, but very fun ATB battle system that I wish could make a comeback in a modern setting. Something about FFIX is just so special that it is hard to describe exactly.
My absolute favorite Fire Emblem game, I absolutely adore SoV. I love Alm and Celica and nearly every other character, all of which with excellent and memorable voice acting. Also my absolute favorite plot of any Fire Emblem game that I've played, while being just as addicting as the entire series is to me.
Easily one of the best games on the Wii. I love good turn-based combat as much as the next person but I feel like the action combat of SPM worked very well and allowed them to do a lot of unique things with the game. There is a near endless list of incredibly creative and memorable parts of this game, and every detail is filled with love and care. I really liked the 2D-3D thing (another completely unique mechanic), and the story was one of the best for a Nintendo game.
Peak FromSoft with the greatest set of boss battles in any video game that I have ever played backed by a godly soundtrack. Played through the game beating every boss including through the two DLC areas in about 60 hours and was more invested in it than I've ever been in a 'difficult' game before. The rush of finally beating the most difficult challenges that the game throws at you is like nothing else.
Taking out my only minor gripes with the game (the mediocre sidequests and the only like 7/10 combat system, at least compared to some other JRPGs) Xenoblade is one of the most perfect games that I have played in terms of a holistic experience. The game has what I truly believe to be hands down the greatest OST of all time on top of one of the greatest narratives of all time that I don't think I'll ever get over. Some of the most iconic moments in any RPG ever come out of this beautiful game and I'll never forget the experience of playing it.
Basically the most perfect core Kirby experience out there. Gorgeous soundtrack, best level design in the series, plenty of content include a lot of great side content, great gimmick, some of the best bosses in the series, wonderful aesthetics. Kirby at its absolute best is REALLY good, and this is just that.
Wind Waker is definitely my favorite Zelda game that's not BOTW. It's beautiful and has some of the most fun gameplay of the series, on top of a really unique psuedo-open world that's very memorable to me. I just love the vibes of this game SO much in nearly every aspect and think it perfectly captures what makes Zelda so great, while BotW more captured what makes video games as a whole so great.
Another pretty polarizing game, and another that is just really important to me. Skyward Sword was actually my first Zelda game ever and I loved every second of it when I was younger. I never had an issue with the motion controls, maybe that was me just being a kid and loving that concept no matter what but I don't remember it ever being an issue. SS has fantastic dungeon design, a great soundtrack, and one of my favorite aesthetics in the series. Also the ending absolutely made me cry.
Hyper Light Drifter is in the upper eschalon if indie games to me; it has a brilliant, chilling presentation whose context makes it all the more meaningful to me. Alex Preston and Heart Machine managed to deliver an incredibly powerful message without a single line of text, all on top of what is definitely my favorite top-down action gameplay period. Vibes of this game are near unmatched, particularly thanks to the gem of an OST from Disasterpeace.
