(Emulated on Windows. Played using RetroAchievements, 80/80 collected)

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest for the SNES will never not be a strong contender for my favorite game of all time. Going through the game on RetroAchievements only solidified that further--shoutouts to GalacticSpear, Brian, Dissection, and Tiago17 for their work. I especially liked the special challenges for individual levels, such as minimum bananas in Hot-Head Hop and Rattle Battle or, conversely, every banana in Fiery Furnace. If you consider yourself at least pretty familiar with DKC2, you should definitely give this a shot; I guarantee it'll give you a new perspective on at least some parts of the game.

I couldn't get into this. It's interesting on paper but didn't translate well for me. The first time I played this a senile elderly woman went crazy at my apartment. So it really makes me think of her taxidermy goldfish. And that's not what should come to mind when thinking of a game.

Great story, extremely memorable. Rather repetitive gameplay.

Just an absolutely fantastic game top to bottom. The gameplay, mechanics, story, and message all work together to achieve their goal. It's just a truly fantastic game. One of the best. If it released in 2004 it would have been an all time classic like God of War.

Mick Gordon fucks, the Night Sentinel's fuck, the gun-play fucks, this whole game fucks.

Pretty sure this was the only Pokemon game that I finished as a kid.

I really enjoyed this game as a kid but I rarely finished these games.

It's one of those games where the more you play it the more you hate it. It's a great game I played too much of.

Despite it releasing in a state worse than most early access titles everyone gives it a pass, what a shame.

There is an incredible game beyond one of the worst paced stories I have ever experienced. It has a couple of flaws that are just so insanely bad, which is so sad because when the game hits it has some of gaming's strongest moments. This 9/10 rating really is a "10/10 except a number of genuinely 2/10 aspects". Was it not for ending E being incredible, I might have developed much worse of a view on it, due to the final endings being so weakly executed and told, and the constant replay loop structure being functionally useless after a certain point. A 40 hour long game with about 30 hours of incredible content, 8 hours of suffering and 2 hours of moments that I wish hit harder. And yes after a negative focused review I'm still giving it a 9/10 because Yoko Taro legally owns 37% of my brain and most of my organs.

On paper this game shouldn't work, but it does. The game really starts when you get to Hollow Bastion. I spent hours in the Colosseum. One of the few games I've 100%'d.

The thing I love the most about games of this type, from this era, is the pacing. I wish more action games would include light to moderate puzzle mechanics. Love it.

Campy humor, solid gameplay and a great aesthetic; I love it.

Never clicked with me. Not a fan of roguelikes. Art style is great.

A bullet ballet crafted with skill and sprinkled with Mick Gordon, it's amazing.

Fantastic game, very fun, exceptionally fun with friends. Just a blast. Portions of the online community are toxic (reddit).

WOW! I vaguely remember playing this when I was a good bit younger, but I hardly remembered it at all. I'm glad I got the urge to play through New Vegas again thanks to the TV series like so many others I'm sure! The whole unique aspect of it all completely giving you almost a survival horror-esque feel with the bomb collars and the ghost enemies and their unique animations as well as a very interesting linear type of storytelling with its great characters which reminded me of the first Bioshock a bit(another one I need to replay soon). As I have gotten older and experiencing this expansion again I definitely see it in a new light. Especially playing way more in 1st person then I used to since I have gotten more into the fps genre. Really itching to play the others and see how well they hold up to me now! It is always so interesting how you see things in a different light once you age and become a bit more mature lol.

Felt like it did not understand what made the first game tick. Bad writing.
