Games I played in 2022
A list of games I played in 2022. Some of them were excellent and left a long term impression on me and made me think a lot, some were just a fun little ride and some were just. Bad. Or not for me. Anyways, 2022 was pretty nice considering the gaming I did. The list goes in chronological order, from January to December.
29 Games
I absolutely love this game. As a Sherlock reader and enjoyer this was delightful, starting from the beautiful atmosphere and graphics to the emotional twists and turns of the story - this truly was such a good way to start 2022.
my favourite yakuza entry next to 0. the turn based combat system and various job classes were so fun to do + ichiban is a worthy successor of kiryu, in my opinion, he's even better than kiryu but i digress. the cast is amazing and the story is high paced and very emotional, another game i really loved.
i didn't enjoy this game much, mainly bc of the wonky combat and much time had to pass before the story actually picked up. on the bright side, this game has my favourite character mine yoshitaka, who is the saving grace of this game in my opinion.
it's a pretty silly game but a big improvement compared to yakuza 3. i love shun and tanimura, their stories were absurdly fun even though the plot didn't really make much sense but all in all a fun experience.
i love omori!!!! the pixel art is beautiful and colorful and the ost is amazing, not to mention the plot made me cry at times, would recommend it to everyone.
a classic life is strange experience, loved the cozy and warm vibes and the diverse cast, nothing revolutionary about this game.
i already played the 3ds version of the game and adored it, but coming back to the pc version uhhh the localization is very badly handled + adding another 100h to the roster made me see the various plot holes and the rushed development of the second game left a bad taste in my mouth. aside of that, this game is pretty charming with the whole period setting and brilliant ost.
played it because it's my friend's favourite game. it's really interesting and has a lot of replay value but i think i'm not built for metroidvania games :')
idk if it's because this was my first fatal frame game so i missed some plot things but this game is really mid. no more, no less. the exploration is fun, so to say, but as the levels go by even that is tedious and all of the characters are boring and bland even though they had potential.
i can't believe i got a free game with this new machine girl album : o
all in all this game made me remember how gaming can actually be fun yknow.
all in all this game made me remember how gaming can actually be fun yknow.
it's a shame this game has a ''meme'' status because unironically it's one of the best final fantasy entries, even though it has some silly moments, the story hits hard and the cast is really well connected. the combat is challenging i have to admit which is good because you have to think and adjust your job class and use various tactics. the ost and references on other final fantasy titles was a sight to see and the various locations we visit throughout the game are absolutely gorgeous.
cute doggo go brrrr, it's an ok game, didn't feel much hype like everyone else did but if nothing the art is beautiful and it's a quick course on shinto mythology.
an excellent game. fast, short, intriguing, banger ost. nothing more to say, a delight to play.
another yakuza title i really like, it was honestly so fun i did the taxi mission and dance missions most of my time, though the final boss was really random i have to admit. other than that it was a very emotional ride + shinada is such a good character WE NEED MORE OF HIM.
another game i fail to see the hype for. cute catto go brrr but there's much to be desired, the exploration is p straight-forward and some sections were pretty annoying considering how limited our moveset is.
kino. i enjoyed every moment of it.
not the classic / usual tales entry, it's a new spin on things, i liked how we had a strong female lead with agency and the cast was really good i have to admit, even though the combat wasn't well balanced at times and some locations just looked boring and lifeless. the second part of the story is just a big infodump and the writers just didn't know how to incorporate it properly, while the first part of the story was solid and established a pretty good foundation for the later story except the writers just decided to focus on the romance part instead of the plot LOL but it's ok, it's not a bad game at all.
another friend recommendation, i don't have much to say, it was ok i guess... nothing memorable about it :/
ending of the cold steel saga. it's fun and all, i love exploring and soaking in the atmosphere and ost, if these games can do anything right, it's the world building, but this game was too much ambitious of a project so the plot goes out of hand at times and most of the times actually the situation is oddly convenient for the protagonist which is a bit asspully. also i hate the harem thing these games tend to push lately so a big L for that.
my goty 2022. a brilliant game, i have no complaints for it, more about this game in my review for it!
a parasite eve downgrade sequel. nothing memorable except backtracking LOL and the writers once again didn't know how to handle the plot so we got... something ??? i don't know what to say except i wasted 6 hours or so
honestly, the worst yakuza game imo and a lukewarm send-off for kiryu, luckily they made up for it by making yakuza 7, the goat game. really bland and the final boss is such a letdown and they did haruka dirty LOL
played this for 20mins and dipped because no way in hell i'm playing as a russian guy who is living his weeb life in japan who's also a jerk and knows 0 social conventions but somehow every girl wants to fuck him.
kino. kamui and midori are there. kamen rider zi-o reference. peak gaming.
i love you takuto maruki
all in all - a mid game, nothing more, nothing less.
a straight weeaboo incel adjacent man's attempt at writing a visual novel. design and ost is pretty good i have to admit but another game i fail to see the hype for!
rinko kurosawa i owe you my life bestie
ended the holy year of 2022 with an amazing game and i'm grateful for that. the caligula writers never miss.
