This is a list of every Game of the Year winner and runner-ups. The notes include years, winner status and any other notes about that particular award.
Included are the GOTY winners for the years when they did not specify a single overall winner. In the early years they often split computers and consoles or 8 and 16-bit and did not specify a singular GOTY. For years when an overall winner was chosen (usually designated "Ultimate") then those individual console awards are not included.
