Ranking the Video Game Adaptations I’ve Seen Using the Games They’re Based On
Had to get creative for the ones that had multiple adaptations or sequels/reboots. Will continue to update this as I watch more of them so feel free check back from time to time.

The only thing missing was them exploding into a mess of gore.
Holy hell, this is the first I've heard about a Need For Speed movie. I must've missed it or it somehow left my conscious, and it's apparently actually pretty decent or good even?
When the Mario Movie comes out, what games will you use to represent it?
Heck, where is the original 1993 Super Mario Bros movie on here?

@Vee I personally think so. I found it better than a lot of the Fast & Furious movies (which it is very similar to).
@SunlitSonata The original Mario is ranked 28. Will probably use the first New Super Mario Bros game to represent the upcoming one.

Also assume that, judging by what we know so far, Sonic 3 will be represented by Adventure 2 when that comes out in two years.
Quite possibly. I may just go lazy and use Sonic the Hedgehog 3 though.
Very cool idea. Do you mind if I make my own?
Go for it! I look forward to checking it out.
Cool, I’ll check it out!
Have you gotten the chance to watch the Fallout show yet? I find it pretty good. Feel like there would've been less initial surprise at it turning out to be as quality as it is if several Sátántangós’ worth of video essays hadn’t gaslit so many people into thinking that this series of broadly pretty good and very similar games is actually a roller coaster oscillating between the peak and nadir of the genre.
@ProudLittleSeal Sorry for the late reply, but I wanted to make sure I finished the season before I responded. Overall, my opinion is far more mixed than most people’s. It wasn’t until episode 4 that I started getting into it as that’s about the time it actually began to feel a little bit like Fallout to me. Even then I wasn’t able to care about any of the leads outside of my boy Moisés Arias (glad to see Rico survived the apocalypse) because they were either annoying, blatantly evil, or both. Those first three episodes though were massively disappointing. Felt like the dumbing down of Fallout with that lowest common denominator MCU humor. I get that there’s always been a comedic element to the franchise, but not to the point of being outright GOOFY like this. It’s bad when the game the show most resembles is the Diablo-style console spin-off both the fanbase and Bethesda try to pretend never happened.
Wasn’t bad enough to keep me from making it to the finale, but I wasn’t planning on coming back for season 2. At least not until that last episode. Heck of a conclusion. Easily the best of the bunch. Excited to the show dive so deeply into the universe’s lore and look as if it’s potentially going to have profound, lasting effects on the franchise as a whole. Might have redeemed the protagonists for me too. Shame it took them the entire 8 episodes to become interesting and get me invested, but I’ll be willing to overlook it if this turns into a Parks and Rec situation where you just kind of have to put up with the first season to know what’s going on, but everything after is basically fantastic.
And yeah, the general picture the “fans” paint of the series to those unfamiliar is beyond ridiculous.

It's grand 👌 I actually enjoy the trio of leads quite a lot, whenever their paths first started to cross over I could feel the gears in my head turning again about the demographics of Fallout's world and what made them so fascinating to me whenever I first got into it. I can imagine potentially finding the humour grating or taking away from scenes which might otherwise be better if they were more serious on a rewatch, and it doesn't often make me outright laugh like how low INT interactions in the first two games do, but at least in Lucy's case I thought it pretty felt natural in terms of selling her fish out of water characterisation and everything.
What do you think of it aesthetically? I'm pretty impressed with it that way, was initially unsure of how power armour came across in the trailers but paired with the punchy sound effects it commands good screen presence I think. I know certain people have misgivings about it drawing from 4 and 76 in this regard, but to me it just makes sense to style an adaptation after the most popular games if you want to potentially reach a new audience (that and the look & feel of power armour's one of the things they do best anyhow, I don't think I gave 4 enough credit for that or for just how much better its attack feedback is than 3 and NV's among other things).

@ProudLittleSeal Honestly I don’t have a bad word to say about how anything in the show looks. Or the soundtrack for that matter. Very authentic to the source material. I remember not giving 4 enough credit for its changes to power armour at first either. Kind of makes sense and works for the better upon reflection though. Really gave it more impact. Glad the show captures it so well.
