Genuinely Funny Games That Aren't Primarily Comedic
some games just have great writing, what can i say...
examples of games that are primarly comedic would be warioware, katamari, or octodad, where most of the enjoyment comes from the ridiculousness of the concept. looking for clever writing, consistent jokes, and comedy as a main mode or mood throughout the entire work. not looking for unintentionally funny, bad dubs, etc. i refuse to put borderlands here btw.

dark souls, for its potential for hilarious death, but especially for its inclination to support player-driven comedy in pvp. there have been countless extremely mirthful invasion videos uploaded to youtube and nowadays one can just google DARK SOULS FUNNY PVP MOMENTS or whatever for a quick laugh... is dark souls a comedic game? not particularly, and yet it has provided me with much cackling joy.
I'm not sure where we're drawing the line here but I feel like if Portal counts then every Tim Schaefer game should count

you know for a game with a title including the word "torment", one of the things that's always been so remarkable about Planescape: Torment to me is how funny it often is. not all of the jokes have aged well but on my last playthrough it was still consistently getting laughs out of me that kind of belied that game's reputation (notably, both attempts at spiritual sequels, Numenera and Kotor 2, are MUCH more po-faced and self-serious)

as for dark souls, i was considering this. some of the item descriptions and situations are genuinely hilarious. item placement and monsters hiding around corners meant to piss you off or you realize the humor in it briefly after. i wouldn’t call it a prominent mode or tone in the game but i do think it counts to a degree
and also planescape for sure! disco elysium is the only spiritual successor there that carries that

idk if we're including ghost trick in with ace attorney but if not definitely ghost trick
Mega Man Legends, more of an intentional OVA charm than any other game.
