I’m looking into games that are considered influential to modern day gaming in Japan and found this fun ranking website that has different themes where contributors can add their own two cents! It’s fun to see what people in Japan say for a lot of different game rankings as they had access to a lot of games that players in the West never received. Making these lists also makes it easier for me to look back to when looking up stuff to add to my big boy master list, too. Also, lists are just fun!

I’m just looking at lists on minna no ranking, which just basically means “Everybody’s Ranking” because I like the additional comments people can add explaining their reason for their ranking, which makes it more personal.

This list focuses on people’s Top 100 games that made them emotional/cry, which in Japanese is called a nakige (literally like a "crying game"). The category of seems to be looked at as a genre originally more for girls, but is considered less gender-focused now-a-days. The opening of the rankings states that a majority of responses are RPGs because they can more naturally fit an emotional story, and most importantly, an emotional ending over other genres.
