Games with Furigana
Notes:
-"Killer7" is a unique oddity in this list since its Furigana are written in Katakana only, instead of the usual Hiragana.
- Mainline Pokemon games up to "Diamond & Pearl" only have text in Kana. Starting from "Black & White", the player can choose between Kana only or Kanji without Furigana. Proper Furigana are included starting from "Legends: Arceus" and "Scarlet & Violet"
- For "Momotaro Dentetsu : Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban!", Furigana were added in the Ver1.4.0 update.
- For "Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age", only the "S / Definitive Edition" version allows for Furigana. The vanilla game only has Furigana in the 3DS version.
- For the "Professor Layton" series, make sure to play the フレンドリー版 versions of the first two games ("Curious Village" and "Diabolical Box"), as the original version for those did not include Furigana. The HD editions, available on iOS and Android, also have Furigana. All games starting from "Unwound Future" include Furigana by default.
- For "TLoZ: Phantom Hourglass" and "TLoZ: Spirit Tracks", Furigana can be toggled for each Kanji individually by tapping the character on the bottom screen.
Exceptions:
- Pikmin 1 (GC/Wii/Switch): Interesting feature in the Japanese version: there's an "Adult" and "Child" mode in the option menu where you can change the difficulty of the language. "Adult" mode is the default option and the "Child" mode is a more streamlined and simplified script that only uses Hiragana/Katakana. This setting only affects the in-game text and Olimar's voyage log, the difficulty of the game itself is unchanged.
