Reyn's Review Archive

I've decided, due to much of my writing having improved/changed over the last year or so, to archive my reviews here and delete them on my account. Just feels good to clean up reviews I'm not totally happy with but still have the memories of them be here in this list. And I'm going to make this public, once I add them all here and delete them off my account, so people that are interested in seeing them still, still can. Sorry for anyone that had liked these reviews prior lol

Format is date I wrote the review, then the score I gave the game, then the review itself and then finally any comments that were under the review

"Just good fun tho I do kinda suck a bit at it. Only issue was some of the bullshit moments near the end but other than that, good ost and visually looks great. Plus the whip movement is awesome"

"Really good game with fluid controls and a great soundtrack. The one jump to get the super charge is ass and some of the bosses in the sigma stages are horrible but overall, a really good game

Edit: bumping this up to an 8 ngl, after beating Megaman 6 I realized I having this at a 7 just wasnt right

Edit 2: after replaying it for a 2nd time, yeah it's a 9 now"

"Chapter 1 was bad, 3 was awful and the other 3 were just okay. Some of the atmosphere is cool and the relationship between Daniel and Sean is aight, but I didn't like any of the characters except for Stephen and Daniel. Ost was super forgettable, despite me really liking the ost in the other games. Lot more cringe in this game versus the others I felt. Only part I actually genuinely enjoyed was the ending so yeah, this game sucks

Bumped it down to a 3 btw, it's bad."

"Last game I played was Kaze and the wild masks and I feel this game is literally the exact opposite of Kaze. Colors had some really cool level themes and damn good ost but the controls in the 2d sections and 3d sections, just has a ton of jank. Plus the actual story and cutscenes, were just so corny and childish. Fun game tho, just could have been better with more fluid movement and controls. To be fair, this is my first 3d sonic game I've played so they might all be like this, when it comes to the 3d sections at least.

Got the platinum and it was frustrating but glad its done"

"Hilarious all the way through, super fun gameplay that makes great use of the wii remote and it has a ton of charm/style. The bosses for the most part are all great as well. Ost was fun too. Overworld parts grew on me but some of the grinding can get tedious. Combat can also get a bit monotonous but still was very fun. Overall, had a blast."

"The gravity mechanics and air combat are so much fun, most certainly the best parts of the game along with the rift zones and the challenges. The actual story was just okay, and the characters were only alright for the most part, besides Kat, Raven and Gade who are all great. Had a lot of fun with it."

"At first, I wasn't enjoying it as much as the first game but by the end of the game, I knew I not only enjoyed it as much as the first game, I enjoyed it more. Of course Kat's gravity gameplay is as fun as ever and the addition of changing gravity styles is a great addition and by the end of the game, the plot becomes way crazier than anything in the first game. Some of the side missions were great too but those were more miss than hit. Yes I gave it the same score as the first, while I liked this one more, they are both similar in scores for me. Let's just say it's a 7.9/10 Super fun game!"

"The main thing most people talk about in this game, is the story and of course its great. But personally, that is not what drew me in. What drew me in was the amazing post-apocalyptic world and the fantastic soundtrack that accompanies it. I was in awe at the city ruins and the amusement park, it's just so beautiful. Prob my favorite world to explore, just cause I love the post-apocalyptic setting so much and I feel this game is best of the best when it comes to that setting"

But if I had to name only ONE game for my favorite OST, it would be NieR Automata. That's how great this is.

I was in awe after discovering each area, whether it's the Bunker, City ruins, the Desert, the Amusement Park, Flooded City, etc...

I'm glad you liked it aswell!

"I was really not feeling this game up until the 2nd half, then it got better. The black borders are annoying sure but they don't kill the game totally. Some of the moments, like the spider women or the ending are really cool. Otherwise, it's pretty meh and the moments where hoards of enemies come at you, just isn't too fun. The ending tho, was really interesting and I'm wondering how the sequel will play out. Also I died 112 times, just thought I'd throw it out there since the game told me at the end."

"I played this entire game up, until the final boss, back in 2019 when the game first came out. Final boss kicked the shit out of me and I just dropped it until now where I finally beat the game. Not as good as Bloodborne, and I think Dark Souls 3 has a better selection of bosses overall, but the bosses that are good are really damn good. And the new combat system is a ton of fun, so I think it's on par with Dark Souls 3, even tho I prefer that game more. Still, an amazing game that I'm glad I went back to."

"Wow, just wow. Metroid is back baby. Samus is so so fun to play as in this game. Controls are pretty much perfect. The EMMI sections were super intense and fun. The areas were beautiful as well. Some of the items you have to use the speed boost to get, are kinda bullshit but not a huge deal. I was surprised Ridley wasn't in the game after seeing the ending but that's perfectly fine. And hoo boy that ending. Simply amazing ending to an amazing game. My GOTY currently and I don't think its gonna change. Also it's my 2nd fav Metroid game now after Super Metroid"

"When I played the original demons's souls back in 2017, I wasn't too impressed. The lore was pretty cool but the areas and most of the bosses kinda sucked. At least it was still playable unlike DS2 but it was still one of the weakest souls games imo. This holds true for the remake except I am giving it an extra point because visually it looks amazing and the dualsense is awesome. You can still feel the jank of the original and some of the redesigns of the NPC's are kinda weird but that doesn't hold back that I think it is better than the original. Could have been better if it wasn't a remake of one of the weakest souls games lol. Also I am working on the Platinum for this, just finished my first playthrough, will come back when done

Edit: Going back to the original in 2023, the only cool thing this remake does is the dualsense stuff. Art direction, OST and atmosphere are all a downgrade. So bumping it down to a 5/10."

This should be a 3.5 if it wasn't for the bad run to Sir allone and the horrendous run to blue smelter demon...along with blue smeltor demon being just a reskin. So besides that awfulness, two very good bosses along with a good area."

"Area was cool. Aava was a good boss and the Ivory King was even better. Why is it lower than the other two dlcs? Frigid outskirts, literally the worst area I have seen in a souls game and it ends with one of the worst fights I have ever had the displeasure of fighting, Lud and Zallen. Even had some npc's summoned and it was still awful. Sad cause the other parts of the dlc were pretty good but...just don't go to the frigid outskirts man...

On second thought, the two bosses are decent but not great. The area is cool but the 2nd half of it can be bullshit and the frigid outskirts is why its a 4, worst area in the series capped off by a double refight"

"This gets a 4.5 from me, was gonna be a 3 or worse but the DLC improved that score. I did have fun with this game at certain parts, mostly the dlc(NOT FRIGID OUTSKIRTS). The main game of DS2, is just bad pretty much. Most areas aren't good and most bosses aren't either except for a couple, my favorite of the main game being Darklurker despite the horrible run to him. Get your ADP to at the very least like 95, but max it out as soon as you can. Sucks you have to do that for the game to be playable. So yeah already reviewed the dlc but those were much better than the main game, sadly the main game is attached to those. Worst souls game by far but still had fun here or there. Working on the platinum so I am not entirely done but all the content in the game has been finished except ancient dragon, which I might go back and do. Thank god, Dark Souls 3 was actually amazing unlike this game.

Update: Just beat Ancient Dragon on my first try, the difficulty is way overblown. I found it quite easy but still a top 5 worst boss honestly"

"I played Final Fantasy X(PS2) back in late 2016 and really enjoyed it. Sadly I never got to beat it, but I went back to it and I am so glad I did. I really love the main cast, none of them are bad. Even kimahri who I wasn't the biggest fan of, grew on me a bunch. The OST is actually amazing, almost every track ranges from I like it to I love it. The story, oh man, is it depressing and emotional. Going back to the main cast, every character fleshes out as you go along the main story. The combat system, is one of my favorite for a turn-based rpg. It's just so clean to switch out between party members mid-battle and the sphere grid is so addicting. Last positive I will say is the ending. One of the best endings I have seen in a game period, and it's one of the most emotional things I have seen in a game as well. Just...so so good. A decent amount of the dialogue is pretty awkward honestly, like delivery-wise. The voice actors are great, it's just the direction isn't the best but I can't fault it too much for being a game from 2001. Also the game is super linear which was really noticeable at points, and while I didn't get too bothered by it, I can see why others would. Anyways, I am working on getting the Platinum for this game as we speak so that'll take a bit lol"

"Just beat the game and got the neutral ending. Will go back and get the other endings, most likely at least. I had a blast with this game. Technically this is the first mainline SMT game I've beaten but I did play IV first. To get the negatives out of the way, for the majority of the game I did not like any of the human characters. The demons, I really enjoyed, but I didn't really enjoy the humans until the end of the game. Along with that, I don't think the story was that great, tho by the end of the game, it picked up a lot which was nice. Lastly, and it's not a huge deal, but it doesn't run the best but that is to be expected because it's a switch game. Now the positives! This game is just so much fun to play. I love the exploration, especially so with the post-apocalyptic setting. The large but condensed areas work really well. The gameplay, is just a blast but that's to be expected with the press turn system. The OST won my 2021 best Soundtrack category, so you know it's damn good. So yeah, awesome exploration/atmosphere, gameplay and music while mediocre human cast and story. That's not even mentioning the demon negotiations or the super fun sidequests. The localization clearly had a blast with both. The postives heavily outweighs the negatives for this game, so that's why it gets an 8!"

"This game reminds me so much of a classic 3D Zelda mixed with pikmin surprisingly. The game just looks gorgeous, one of the best looking games I've played when it comes to graphical fidelity. The combat is pretty fun too. Most of the bosses are great, some even Dark Souls-like. I initially thought Kena's jumping was really bad but I got used to it quick. This game really does look like a Pixar movie, and while that means it doesn't have as much of an identity compared to other games, I still enjoyed most of the character designs. I do wish the final boss was better because I wasn't really a fan of it but that's not too much of an issue because the other bosses are really good. Just had a really good time with this game!

Edit: Still good but I'm moving this down to a 6 maybe a 6.5"

"I was originally gonna give this game an 8.5/10 but you know what, what the hell I will give it a 9. I played judgment before this but that's a spin-off so this is my first true introduction into the Yakuza series. First, the plot and how it unravels is just amazing. I love switching between both characters, and the fact both of their plots start to slowly intertwine as the game goes on, it's just so well done I felt. The entire cast was interesting to me, all of the characters were very memorable. I didn't think the OST was amazing or anything but there were a couple of bangers and the music really fit the era the game took place in. The Cabaret and Real Estate Royale, were both really rad and interesting ways to get some easy cash. The overall combat, I actually wasn't digging at first but as I went along in the game, I really enjoyed it. Kiryu's combat styles were fun but Majima's were a blast, specifically Breaker and Slugger style. The subquests were fun but I do think there are maybe a bit too many of them. I did around half of them. Lastly, the last two bosses you fight in the game, were just so spectacularly fun, that might be why I bumped the score up to a 9 lol. All in all, I had a blast with this game and I thought it was fantastic"

"So I not only got the super easy platinum for this game, I also completed it 100% and I had a really fun time all the way through. I dont think there was anything exceptional about this game besides the visuals, this game is just gorgeous to look at and it makes use of the dualsense/PS5 very well. The fluid traversal upgrades you get in this game are great, it's a blast to just rocket boots your way through stages and the pocket dimensions were really cool too. Other than that, it's just a very solid platformer but the couple things that really stood out(visuals, Dualsense features and movement options) brought it to a 7.5 for me.

Edit: Honestly, I'm moving this down to a 6.5 after thinking about it"

"This is pretty close to an 8/10, and that's just because of the wonderful relationsip between Trico and the boy, the immense amount of charm this game has and the very sweet and fascinating story. The reason it is not an 8 or higher is it's clear the game could use more polish as the controls aren't the best and the camera is straight up bad. While those really bothered me in the first 30 mins of playtime, I eventually didn't mind it that much and enjoyed the game. The game is super realistic when it comes to physics and game logic and I found all that to be super cool, and not annoying or anything. Trico and the boy's relationship as you go on is just so heartwarming, I teared up at several points when playing. I really want to know more about the world in this game, because it leaves a lot of questions of mine unanswered. Last, I saw people complaining that Trico's AI is horrible or something? I honestly did not have much issue ever with his AI not doing what I want except for maybe like one time. I loved how realistic his behavior was, Trico actually felt like a real animal. All in all, an almost great game that is held back by a somewhat lack of polish/clunky controls and camera but in the end is still a pretty magical experience."

The game is pretty nice visually, the music is very nice too, probably my favorite part of them game if I am being honest. The level up and down system for weapons is cool but also can be very frustrating. I thought this was actually a metroidvania all these years but while it has some Metroid elements, it's really its own thing. "I have never owned an Xbox and so I never got to play Ori when it came out. Thank god for the Ori collection because I had a really good time with this game. It's a typical metroidvania, perhaps a bit basic compared to others in the genre but the stuff it does well, it does really well. The world of Ori is just beautiful to look at, the artstyle is great. The story, while being kinda barebones, is really charming especially with the first cutscene you see. The movement in this game just gets better and better as you get upgrades and by the end, it feels so good to play. I 100%ed this game and it was really fun to go back to old areas with all the abilities you've gotten. The downsides of this game however are some areas can be pretty annoying like the chase sequences and sadly, as most people here have stated, the combat isn't really anything special. Also I do wish there was more variety in the settings of the different areas but it is called the blind forest so it makes sense most of it is foresty. If those things were improved, I could honestly see me giving this game an 8. I heard the sequel improved on a lot of things in this game, so I am definitely looking forward to that!"

Movement and gameplay is fun but it just didn't engage me like I thought it would. The level design is bland and relies on one or two gimmicks in every stage. Half the bosses were fine but half were frustrating but in a bad way, and I could care less about the story. The dialogue I can't even pay attention to half the time because its in japanese so I either skip it, struggle to play while reading or it just brings me to a complete halt. I had some fun here and there but yeah, not as good as I thought it would be. Megaman X is much better"

"I could have totally seen this being a 7 for me, but I only really enjoyed the very beginning and the end a bunch. The first hour or two I was really captivated with what was going on and it was actually quite creepy for me. Then the game slowly felt kinda samey with the whole office aesthetic, mostly until the last couple chapters where it was doing some really interesting stuff, the Ashtray maze coming to mind with that being hands down the best part of the game. So yeah, besides that the combat is fun, the presentation is real nice especially when you enter a new area and the name pops up all huge on the screen. The story sadly wasn't as interesting as I'd hope, and reading the documents was cool but there were way too many to go through. Overall, I enjoyed it, I just wish the cool elements like the maze and the intrigue in the beginning of the game, lasted throughout the whole playtime.

Also gonna get the easy platinum, just have a couple misc trophies"

I played a majority of the levels in this game so I feel satisfied in that department. As for the actual game, I had fun. There is a lot of different content here as you can see, and I think its worth it in that aspect. The cutscenes are pretty shitty for story mode compared to how they are in 2, but it is what it is. This was my first full monkey ball experience besides playing a tiny bit of 2, and man I never realized how frustrating these games can be. Some levels, especially in original stage mode, can just be pure bullshit and not in a fun way. The levels that aren't bullshit, can be super fun. I will admit I skipped some of the bullshit hard stages but I beat the majority of the stages I played so I'm fine with it. All in all, it was fun but nothing great imo. 6.7 for me"

"I already liked the original Links Awakening but I think this remake made me truly appreciate Links Awakening way more than I did before.

I love how weird this game is, it feels so odd compared to most other Zelda games. The cast of characters is just really weird and memorable and it just has this dream-like feeling..hm I wonder why. The dungeons I found myself enjoying a lot more with this remake now that it looks so clean with the new art style. As for that, it's just wonderful. One of the best art styles for a zelda game period. The redone OST is super well done too.

My only complaints would be the frame-rate tanks right after going to a new area but only for like a couple seconds before going back to a mostly steady 60. After a while that didn't really annoy me much. The blur effect is weird at first too but you get used to it. Also I got 100% in this game, everything besides some chamber stones.

That is something that was added to this remake, a dungeon creator run by Dampe and you can use chamber stones to create your own dungeon. It was cool but I mostly just did it to get the pieces of heart and stuff. Also I believe there were more warp points added, they added bottles to this game, and you dont have to equip certain items to your items slot anymore like the power bracelet.

Just some very nice additions to the already good game, and the beautiful artstyle. Honestly this is in my top 5 or 6 Zelda games now, had a great time."

"I played a couple hours of Bayonetta 2 back in 2016 and enjoyed myself but then abandoned the game soon after. So I'm happy that I went back and played the 1st game because it was great.

The combat in this game is super fun, you can do some crazy combos in this game and you get several weapons to use with those combos. The characters are all memorable, all of them are fun to watch. This game is also really stylistic with its presentation, the movie-reel like cutscenes to the jazzy music that plays in The Gates of Hell, it's all super rad. The music as well is super fun. Like I said The Gates of Hell theme is super jazzy and the Fly Me to the Moon remix is just amazing.

Sadly I did have some problems with the game. The story is fun and all, but that was mostly the beginning, some of the middle and the end. In between that it was just okay, nothing bad but nothing great. The camera can also be a little jank at times and the amount of QTE's in the game kinda sucks, but those negatives aside, I had a great time.

I heard 2 isn't nearly as good but I'll be the judge of that!"

"I was very torn on how I was gonna rate this game. My enjoyment throughout the whole thing was like an 8/10 but critically I'm gonna give it a 7/10.

There is a lot to like in this game. It's a lot of fun to explore the different areas in this game, collecting Pokemon and filling out the dex is a blast. I've seen some people here say it's boring since you have to catch 10+ of each Pokemon to complete each dex entry which is simply not true. You could do that and you need to do that to get a perfect dex entry but you can do various other tasks besides catching, like using certain moves or certain styles, to get each entry to research level 10.

And speaking of styles, that's something that was added. You can use two different styles in this game, strong and agile style. I really like this addition as it can quickly turn the tide in either your or your opponent's favor and it adds a bit of a risk or reward element to the game. Do you want to do an agile move, maybe get another turn in after that and hopefully take your opponent down? Or do a strong style move and get as much damage in as possible so you can OHKO your opponent, otherwise if that doesn't work your opponent may take two turns themselves after. It was a nice change to the usual Pokemon formula.

They added a lot of QOL things that really should have been in the series before. You can now move around in battle so it actually feels like an actual battle is taking place, you can now nickname Pokemon anytime you want and you can also now swap moves or evolve Pokemon anytime you want too. Pokemon actually feel alive now, they can fall asleep randomly out in the wild, they have different behaviors depending on the Pokemon. They could be aggressive, or docile or even a mix of both.

The game can also be difficult at times. No not trainer battles, which there are a certain amount of and they were all easy. I'm talking alpha Pokemon, some of these can be brutal to catch and their AI is actually smarter than most of the trainer battles AI lol.

Lastly, most of the music is very nice and most of the new designs I like, besides a select few like Hisuian Avalugg or Sneasler.

So yeah there is a lot to like in this game, but there are downsides.

The game does not look good visually, pop-in is very evident and the areas, mostly the first two, are not nice to look at. The remaining three are better visually, and along with being more fun to explore, are a lot better than the first two areas(4th one being my favorite).

Noble battles are a good addition overall, and while I found some of them cool, none of them are really that great. The story isn't anything special either tho I did like some of the characters. The ending to the game was very abrupt but I think it was just setting up things for the postgame, which I haven't started yet.

All in all, despite some of the downsides which is mostly just how the game looks, the game is a lot of fun to play. I would have beaten this way sooner, I just beat it now at almost 90 hours, but I got swept up with completing the dex and especially with shiny hunting(I've gotten 46 at this point and I haven't even gotten the free shiny ponyta yet). So yeah I still plan on doing the rest of the stuff in this game including more shiny hunting. With all this in mind, this is the best Pokemon game since B/W2 tho the game is closer in quality to Sun and Moon/Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which is def not a bad thing."

"I had played more than half of this game back in 2019, when it came to the switch and I really enjoyed myself. After coming back to it two and a half years later, I'm happy to say I enjoyed it even more than I did before. It's just a blast to play, the run-and-gun levels to a slightly lesser degree than the bosses, because man are they a blast. Of course the classic cartoon rubberhose aesthetic is amazing, and so is the OST. It's just such a treat to look at and play honestly, even tho the game can be brutal . The devil definitely gave me the most trouble, died like 100 times to it lol. Anyways, amazing game "

"It's done, it's finally done. After almost 120 hours of playing Elden Ring, doing as much as I can, I am finally done. Man what a game.

The first 30-40 hours of this game were an easy 10/10, no questions asked. Discovering stuff all around the world, be it overworld bosses or mini-dungeons, was just so incredibly addicting. There is just so much stuff to do in this game, it's actually crazy.

As I was getting to mid-game, that charm started to wear off as I was seeing so many mini-bosses or even main bosses, appear again. I understand it's a huge open world but that was my biggest problem with the game, besides the fact some fights are garbage, that they reuse so many bosses. Some bosses appear 10+ times and while they might be somewhat different from other counterparts, it's still the same boss. Again, that's my biggest gripe in this game besides some bullshit fights like the awful godskin duo or all the double fights you go through. I also didn't find Melania that fun either and yeah, I used the mimic tear, I honestly didn't care for that fight. In fact I used the mimic tear on exactly three main bosses. Mohg, Melania and Godskin duo. Godskin duo I could give two shits about because their fight is ass. Melania I kinda feel bad about and Mohg I definitely feel bad about because that fight actually wasn't that bad, I just suck lol. I'll properly fight Mohg in ng+

With that out of the way, there are a ton of fights I did enjoy. A lot of the mini-bosses were cool, thinking back to it, most of the main story bosses/optional bosses I actually enjoy. Unpopular opinion but I didn't hate the fire giant or Elden beast.

Another unpopular opinion that kept this from becoming a possible 8/10, I didn't think the endgame was bad? Sure it has some shitty fights like godskin duo but I honestly enjoyed most of the fights you go through. That and some of the areas, like Miquella's Haligtree, Mohgwyn Palace and Crumbling Farum Azula, I actually really enjoyed. Plus the final main snow area was cool too. So I ended up really really enjoying the early game, enjoying the mid game, and really enjoying the end game, which did surprise me. I'm glad it did pick up a bunch at the end

As for other notable things, the combat was great but it's pretty much DS3 combat so that's to be expected. The mini-dungeons do get old eventually but at the start of the game they are great and even still, there are some really cool ones late game. I'd say my favorite fight in this game was probably Maliketh or Astel (because he is so goddamn cool), but like I honestly really enjoyed most of them, even gimmick fights like Rykard or Rennala. I would say my favorite portion of the open world was Caelid and the underground areas, just super weird and cool, with Caelid especially giving me Bloodborne vibes. Also I got the Ranni ending, which I really enjoyed.

So yeah, despite the problems I have with repeating bosses, and bullshit bosses, the positives heavily outweigh the negatives and overall it was amazing. I do think this will probably be the least-replayable souls game for me, just because of how it's structured but that's not a huge deal as I don't usually replay games that often lol.

In terms of where I'd rank this with the other souls games, I'd put this right under DS3 and Sekiro. I don't see any 2022 game topping this.

Oh yeah, I also am close to getting the platinum, just have to get two endings in the game, super easy plat compared to the other games btw.

Update: After some consideration, and finally playing the DS3 DLC, I feel like this game has too many flaws(mostly in boss design) for me to rank it a 9. It gets an 8.5 overall, 9 maybe 9.5 on my initial playthrough but the magic just isn't there on future playthroughs. Dark Souls 3 stays winning"

"I had a blast playing this game, easily in my top 5 Kirby games. The post-apocalypticness of this game obviously helped with that, seeing how I love that setting so much, but this game did some really cool stuff.

Upgrading your copy abilities was one of my favorite parts of this game, seeing what they would evolve into next was so much fun. The level theming was super cool, especially world 3 and 4, those were my favorite. I'm really happy Kirby transitioned into 3D so well, I don't know how they can go back to 2D tbh.

The music was pretty good, tho not as good as past entries and I do wish they went harder on the post-apocalyptic setting more, worlds 5 and 6 weren't as good in that aspect I felt. Luckily the ending went real hard, it was epic as hell.

I feel if the level theming and music were even better, this would have been a 9 and easily my favorite Kirby game but luckily, I still thought it was great. It gets an 8.5 from me.

I do also wish it was a bit longer but that's not a big deal, I still have post-game content to do so that should be fun!

Edit: The postgame was awesome and so this is my goty now"

"To be honest the level design isnt the greatest, and the secret final boss was kinda frustrating but the ost is really solid especially for a gameboy game and the animal buddies debut in this game and that's great. On par with the first Kirby's Dreamland tho I think I'd honestly rather replay that because of how short it is"

2 Comments:

So I went back and completed everything including The Arena and I have to say, I liked the game more than I initially thought. I'm still not a big fan of the multiple smaller campaigns and mini-games rather than one large one but it's not bad. The mini-games are fun and so are Spring Breeze and Dynablade. Great Cave Offensive is cool but drags on a little too long for a smaller campaign. The Revenge of Meta Knight and Milky Way Wishes are for sure the highlight of the game, especially the latter. I really enjoyed the copy ability gimmick for that one. Anyways I had a lot of fun but Kirby 3 is still better.

Also Yo-Yo best ability "

It's a blast to play, I love the aesthetic and the wacky humor and the OST is great. It took a bit getting used to the controls at first but they work really well when you get the hang of them. And the last couple levels, especially the moon one, are absolutely bonkers. Now this is a weird, artsy game I can get behind."

I did have some problems executing moves via motion controls but idk if that was me or the fault of the game. The humor is awesome too, the announcers are hilarious. The story however, I didn't care about at all lol. But I felt it was more of an afterthought. Also the OST is good but not for me(not a fan of rap sorry). So yeah, a lot of fun and super stylish. "This is one of my favorite Megaten games now, though I haven't played many. The story was intriguing and I am very curious to see how it plays out in the 2nd game. I liked all the characters too, a very solid cast. My favorite of the bunch was Argilla, she was great.

The gameplay was classic press turn and you really can't go wrong with that. The thing with this game is, you don't recruit demons, you have a dedicated party. I really enjoyed that, made me connect with my entire party. For the majority of the game, I was switching up members here and there but by the endgame, I stuck with Serph, Argilla and Gale. OP magic team. Oh yeah, the OST is stupid good. The normal battle theme might be in my top 3 normal battle themes now and the opening, Danger, is so so good.

I really enjoyed almost all the dungeons, they were all unique and had some nice theming to each one. The final dungeon could be pretty annoying, mostly near the end.

I also really enjoyed the mantra system, reminded me of a simpler sphere grid system, though you definitely need to grind a bunch if you want to get the really good skills, which I did near the end of my playthrough so I could fight all the optional bosses. I really didn't mind grinding, I found it pretty fun in this game. For the most part, the optional bosses weren't too bad, very fun ngl. I beat every one of them besides demi-fiend but I didn't feel like doing a NG+ just for one boss lol.

If I had to give any downsides, the encounter rate can be a bit crazy. I also wish the game told you what a demons weakness was once you found it out. But these are minor nitpicks tbh

Overall, an amazing game. Very excited for the 2nd one!

Edit: weird to say but I'm bumping this up to a 10, something about this game I just absolutely loved and I'm moving it into my top 5 for now"

"I went from playing possibly my favorite game of the year thus far(Digital Devil Saga) to playing my least favorite game of the year so far (this). Kinda sad. I was mostly playing this alongside Digital Devil Saga. If I had to give any positives, it would be that it's short and it's nice to pick up and play because the levels are short. That's really it for positives. Otherwise, I did not really enjoy myself. The combat is clunky and really not fun at all. On top of that, the game lags when lots of things are on screen and that can get frustrating near the end of the game when it's so easy for enemies to juggle you in the air constantly. The story also sucked too but the game is only a couple of hours long so I didn't really expect much. None of the characters are that great either. If the gameplay was more fun, I'd just find this forgettable and nothing more but in the end, yeah this just sucked.

I did also only use Solange for 99% of the game. Didn't care to grind the other characters up so I can actually use them."

"Just replayed the game after not touching it since 2018. Yeah it's still a great time. The movement is the absolute best it's ever been for a Mario game, might have the best movement in any 3d platformer I've ever played. Exploring the kingdoms is very fun as well and the OST is great. Sadly tho, there are some downsides that dont bring this to Galaxy 1 and 2 status. A lot of kingdoms are great but some are kinda meh(Lake and Snow Kingdom) and some are literally just used as boss arenas. Seriously, the ruined kingdom would have been absolutely awesome if it was actually a full-sized kingdom. Also, the mass abundance of moons make them feel kinda repetitive to get. I really wish there were like double, maybe triple the amount of kingdoms, just make them a bit smaller in scope. Still though, a great time overall and the third best 3D mario game behind Galaxy 1 and 2.

Also, when I replay 3D mario games, I usually like to 100% them. For this game though, screw that lol. Not nearly as fun to 100% replay as the others."

"I'm a bit conflicted with this game. Overall, I would say it's great but I don't think playing this directly after the 1st game was the best idea. Got burnt out on it a lot faster than I thought I would.

The game has some awesome story bits, some really great stuff here and there and I think as a whole, the story is great. Overall, I preferred the mystery of the 1st game but the payoff is quite nice here. The mantra grid was reworked too and while I think overall its better in 2, by the endgame, it became frustrating to get skills because there's no good AP grinding places. Some really awesome additions like the berserk mode and the reworked omoikane encounters were very welcome. My main issue with the game honestly is I think the dungeons were a lot worse in comparison to the 1st game's dungeons. The only one I actually quite enjoyed was the final one, the rest were kinda forgettable and felt the same most of the time.

The OST is great overall, but not nearly as good as the 1st game's. The battle themes are all great but most of the dungeon themes/location themes are kinda forgettable.

Lastly, I only defeated Jack Frost and the archangels. The other optional bosses, I gave up on tbh. I had already grinded a bunch just to get to 70, I would still need to grind for mantra and like I said, no good AP farming like in the first game, so I said fuck it, I am gonna pass on them. I was already burnt out already, I didn't want to start disliking the game lol. Perhaps I will go back and fight them in the future, who knows. The final boss however, was very epic albeit pretty easy.

So yeah, I guess I am a little disappointed in the game after loving DDS1 as much as I did, but I still had a great time overall despite my problems with the game.

Overall, I give it a 8.5

Update: I went back and beat the rest of the optional bosses besides Satan. Idk what I was thinking, they really weren't bad at all lol. They were really good though, so I bumped up the score to an 9."

"Good starting DLC, almost great even. I thought the Painted World of Ariandel was actually a pretty solid level for the most part. The bridge leading up to the main tower reminded me of DS1, which I'm sure is what they were going for hence the "painted world" and all. The Champion's Gravetender sucked. Just an NPC with a horde of wolves and then one of the larger wolves you saw at the beginning of the level. The real reason you want to play this DLC though, is Friede. Awesome boss with a very solid OST. She's probably in my top 3 DS3 bosses not counting Ringed City as I haven't touched that yet. I thought she would be harder than she was but she only took me like 6 tries, that doesn't detract from how good of a boss she is though.

Overall, very solid and close to being great. I just wish Gravetender did not suck and that the DLC was longer because yeah it was pretty short. One more boss would have been nice. Still, had a lot of fun overall with it.

"Goddamn that was amazing. I enjoyed Ashes of Ariandel but man, this was on another level, there's very little wrong with this DLC. The levels were awesome, I loved the aesthetic of The Dreg Heap, easily my favorite level in the game tbh. I don't even like DS2 but seeing Earthen Peak like that was cool as hell. The ringed city was great too, nicely connected and overall was cool to explore.

As for the bosses, hoo boy they were almost all awesome. Halflight was the only one I didn't care about really but it wasn't bad, certainly better than Gravetender Greatwolf. Demon Princes were great, one of the best double fights in the series. Though, they weren't that hard,(only took me 2 tries), they were still a great boss overall. Midir was amazing, easily the best dragon boss in the series. He honestly wasn't as hard as I thought he would be, only took me like 6 or 7 tries. Then we have Gael who was also amazing, the best finale boss alongside Orphan of Kos. He actually took me more tries than Midir, around 15 I believe. Also his soundtrack was so epic.

Overall, two awesome levels, three awesome bosses and one okay boss makes this one of the best DLC's I've ever played, not as good as The Old Hunters DLC but close!"

"This is a tough one to rate because the good thing's in this game, are super super good while a lot of it, is just kinda meh.

Case 1 and 3 are both meh to me. Yeah that's right, I dont think Case 3 is bad. I didn't care for the first half at all but I thought the 2nd half was decent. And the first case is a typical first case, besides the fact that Pheonix has amnesia which I really didn't care for at all.

Case 2 I thought was good overall and that was mostly for the 2nd half. The 1st half was alright but the 2nd half was actually really well done I felt.

Case 4 though, is what brought this to a 7 possibly a 7.5. It was so so good, in my top 3 cases between both games now, probably my 2nd favorite after 1-4. It had a very solid trial and especially in the 2nd half, some really awesome character moments.

The last thing I want to talk about is the OST. At first, I did not care for the newly added trial themes, mostly because I loved the 1st one so much. While I still think the 1st game has a much better OST, the new songs for the most part really grew on me. Some of them are awesome while some of them I just don't care for really. Either way, I'd still say it was a solid OST all around.

In the end, I did end up really enjoying the game though that was mostly because of Trial 4 tbh. The 1st game though, still a lot better overall"

"Simply a magical game and in my top 3 FF games now. Because of recency bias, I have it as my #1 on my FF list but who knows, that may change or stay the same. It's also #1 on my 2022 list, beating out DDS1

The characters, the story, the music..everything is just awesome in this game...except the battle system. I have a few gripes with it. It has the longest loading times of any FF game thus far and while it was annoying at the start of the game, I slowly learned to be fine with it. The trance system also sucks, especially compared to limit breaks or overdrives, since you barely see them and you can't choose to activate them since they happen automatically. Because the loading times are so long, everyone's turns also take a while and it can drag battles out a lot. Still, I didn't have a huge issue with it, besides that I enjoyed the battle system.

So yeah, the only major gripe I have is with the battle system, and it isn't even a huge deal in my opinion, everything else is just awesome. I love the cast of characters, my favorites were Vivi and Steiner. Even my least favorite, Amarant, I didn't hate. He just doesn't have much of a role in the story. The OST is full of bangers, probably in my top 3 FF OSTs along with VI and VII. My favorite song being the overworld theme, it is so fucking good.

I did a decent amount of the side stuff too, like collecting all of the Stellazios, collecting all the Chocobo Hot and Cold Chocographs and finishing that sidequest, answering all Ragtime Mouse questions, completing the friendly monster sidequest and defeating the optional bosses Hades and Ozma. Hades was easy but Ozma...hoo boy. Ozma was not fun, took me like 15+ tries and the time I did beat them, I didn't even feel like I deserved it because it went down so easily. I got really lucky tbh.

The last thing I have to say is, this game's ending destroyed me. This along with X, are the hardest I've cried at a video game ending. It was an absolutely amazing ending to an amazing game"

"I'm surprised I liked this as much as I did. I'm not a big FPS fan, the only ones I've really played are RE7 and 8 and that's for the horror. This though is pure gameplay and it's a ton of fun. I played the game on Hurt Me Plenty and I felt the game had a good difficulty on that setting, but for the most part it wasn't brutal or anything. I'm a big fan of the creepy demonic aesthetics and the OST is awesome. The movement in this game is also amazing. The fact you can run at lightning speed, along with the gunplay, just makes this game very addicting.

I did play Thy Flesh Consumed and I don't see what the big deal is. E4M6 I wasn't a fan of, mostly because of the cyberdemon placement but I thought it was solid overall. The Spiderdemon fight, I honestly found better in Episode 4, 3's I wasn't a fan of. Also I finished all the trophies except for the multiplayer ones and speedrun trophy. Tho now that I'm seeing it, the death match one looks easy so I might go for it lol. Anyways, great game overall. Had a blast and I can say I am offically a Doom fan!

"I initially played Kingdom Hearts back on the PS2 at the end of 2016. I think I got to deep jungle and then quit? I then restarted the game with Final Mix back in 2019, shortly after I played Kingdom Hearts 3. I got up to monstro/atlantica and then my ps4 got wiped of it's saved data. So this is my third time replaying this game and at this point, I had a little bit of grudge against it. At first, I wasn't enjoying it, especially since some of the early worlds are my least favorite. As the game went on though, I slowly started to enjoy myself.

The game's combat is not that great overall, but it gets better the more combat abilities you get. By the end of the game, it was pretty fun to actually get into combat. The story is really nothing special, but it has its charm. In general, this game is pretty charming, compared to 3 which is the only other one I played. Though, it can get really cheesy especially near the end with all the talk of light vs darkness. The music is good too, tho I only really like a couple of tracks. Those were simple and clean, the main theme, and hollow bastion.

Speaking of hollow bastion, that was probably the best part of the game. Easily the best world in the game imo. The worlds are hit or miss though tbh. I like agrabah, Halloween town and monstro but other worlds, mostly deep jungle and atlantica, I wasn't a fan of. Also neverland would have been one of my favs if it wasn't for the fact that the camera is god awful there. The camera in general isn't good but it just sucked there lol.

In conclusion, this game definitely has its issues but it's still charming overall and even though 3 has better combat, 1 has more heart and I prefer it over 3 now methinks. I hear that 2 fixes the issues I had with this game and has way more heart than 3, so I'm pretty pumped to play it. 6.5/10"

The soundtrack, while decent, doesn't come close to the original Doom imo, and that's probably the biggest reason why I like Doom 1 more...that plus I think the level design was more consistent in that game. Still, had a lot of fun with this game. Also, I didn't play the master levels yet, I'm gonna do a seperate review/log for them."

levels bad. The first 5 or so levels were decent, and there was a good one here and there near the end but the rest were mediocre to absolutely horrible. So many of these I had to look up a guide because of how cryptically bullshit they are. It doesn't help that the first 10 or so levels play the same song. Definitely the weakest Doom thing I've played...."

"What a major stepup from the master levels, I think there were only 2 levels that I thought were just alright. The rest range from really good to awesome. Honestly, I think I like this more than doom 2 itself. These levels were just really high quality. Still not as good as the original doom imo just because of the inferior soundtrack. I think I'm done with classic doom for a while lol, got super burnt out with the master levels but at least my Doom binge ended on a high note. I'll play final doom eventually though."

"I played a good chunk of this game years ago on the Wii U virtual console and enjoyed myself. Idk why I dropped it back then but I decided to go and beat it on my SNES classic this time. Overall, I had a really good time with it. It's super charming, has a great cast, a solid OST, is surprisingly super funny and the battle system is pretty basic but fun. It is pretty easy and pretty short for an RPG, but I didn't have much of a problem with that. The platforming sections though, coupled with the isometric nature, can be really frustrating at times. The end especially can be rough, just because there is an immense amount of platforming there. Still, I had a lot of fun, and I was able to beat Culex too which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. 7.5/10"

"I had a lot of fun with this game, definitely the 2nd best Doom game I've played after Doom 1. (Not anymore) The gameplay loop is the best part, it's just so addicting. I also had a ton of fun finding secrets and getting collectables, it very much felt like classic doom. I do wish there was more variety in the setting for levels. The hell levels are all great, and while I liked the other ones, they just aren't as good imo. The OST, while good, wasn't totally to my taste and isn't nearly as good as say Doom 1. Still, the gameplay is the most fun I've had with a Doom game I'd say. I was contemplating giving this a 7.5 or an 8 but I went with an 8. That may change when I play Eternal because I can already tell I'm gonna like that even more.

Also, I got 100% in this game including all trophies except for the multiplayer ones. I'm gonna wait to do those until I play Eternal, and knock both games out at once.

Edit: I gave gotten the platinum now

Edit 2: I am playing Eternal now and am enjoying it more so I'm gonna bump this down to a 7. I'd pick Eternal over this any day but this is still a really good time"

"Yeah I had a lot of fun with this game, such an improvement over the first game. My two biggest gripes from Blind Forest, the combat and the lack of variety in level settings, were both fixed in this game. The combat is now actually really fun and the world is way more diverse and fun to explore. The story even hit pretty hard at the end too, the ending was just great. The OST was better as well, I really liked several of the songs. Getting 100% was also a lot of fun as well. The bosses were good, especially the final one, though I do wish there were more. Also, idk if this was a problem with the switch version but it was really buggy. 2 different times I've had the game crash on me along with other misc bugs. Still wasn't a big deal, just worth pointing out.

Overall, I had a great time and I'm glad this was a major improvment from the first game."

"I played this years ago but never actually beat it (I got to Day 15 with 18 ship parts), so it was a lot of fun going back to it now. The game definitely has some jank, the pikmin AI can be really annoying at times, and the final boss I'm not a huge fan of, everything else though is great. It's just full of charm, it's pretty hard not to like it. OST is really nice and all of the areas are cool, especially distant spring. I got all 30 parts in 23 days, I could have done it in 22 but I wanted to fight both Goolix and Mamuta. Sadly missed out on Smokey Progg.

Great game though it only gets better I feel with 2"

"I 100%ed this game back in 2015, had a really good time and found the game quite difficult. Going back to it now in 2022, I like it even more than I did back then. It's such a stepup from Pikmin 1. It's even more charming, way more polished, graphically it looks great, it's a lot tougher too. It's just Pikmin 1 but better pretty much. It can get pretty dfficult, certain cave floors can be really bullshit. However all this time I had thought it was absolutely brutal in the 2nd half and while it can be for sure, it's not nearly as hard as I thought it was. Still a tough game overall though.

Yeah I had a blast replaying this and consider it peak pikmin. Gonna replay 3 eventually as well."

Will people call me a fake pikmin fan for not playing it (joke)? Is it still worth trying it out for $30 on switch (real question)?

It's still a great game and right behind or ahead of pikmin 1 (might be recency bias for me preferring 1) but I feel it lacks a certain charm from the first two games. That and it's way too easy, being the easiest of the 3 by far. Though bosses certainly can give you some trouble, you will never have to worry about running out of food. It's certainly the best looking Pikmin game, and it's the most polished of the 3, however I still think 2 is better and possibly 1 (though that may change idk). Still, a great game and one of the best Wii U games"

""The controls are solid but I only got up to the 4th world and never really went back. It's good but yeah Celeste is a lot better."

This was my old review I did a couple months ago. So yeah I decided to go back and beat the game. I said I got up to the 4th world but in reality, I got up to the 5th world. The first 4 worlds though I did 100% back then apparently. So yeah, my point still stands, though I like it more than I did before. Just a very solid platformer with tight controls and hard as balls levels. Ost is really solid though the version I played, didn't have the original soundtrack sadly. As for what I did in the game, I completed all worlds 100% except for Rapture(I missed some bandages and gave up on the guy warp + skipped the 3 other warps) and one of the levels in rapture I didn't A+. Besides that, I A+ every single level both Light and Dark and yeah, that includes cotton alley. Rapture and Cotton Alley were absolutely brutal but I can finally say I beat Super Beat Boy. Very fun game.

Edit: looking at statistics, apparently I did 100% the game? Guess that's separate from the individual world percentages and doesn't count bandages/warp zones. I also died 10,474 times, wowzers!"

"What an amazing game, easily better than Justice For All and on par with the original. Just like the original Ace Attorney, not a single case is bad. All of them I would consider good, yes even case 3. Case 5 in particular is easily the best in the game and is right up there with case 4 of the first game and case 4 of the third game. The overarching plot in this game is just awesome. The OST is also very solid, a step-up from JFA, at least the courtroom songs are anyways.

Easy contender for my 2022 goty, though it's tough since I loved DDS as well. Tough call but I'm giving it to T&T for the time being

Edit: I also found it funny how the AA series is similar to Danganronpa in terms of quality imo, how one game is a 7 and two of them are a 9. In AA's case, 1 and 3 are a 9 while 2 is a 7. Danganronpa however, 1 was a 7 and 2 and 3 were a 9. Just thought it was neat to point out"

It has to be one of the most unique games I've ever played, it's so stylish and the concept of the reaper game is just super cool.

Visually it looks great, the gameplay is a lot of fun, the characters and story I enjoyed and the music, while not quite my taste overall, is really good. The couple of songs I really loved were Calling, Deja Vu and Someday

While I can't say it's one of my favorite games ever, I can confidently say it's great and I'm happy I enjoyed it as much as I did

Fighting the colossi is just so epic, all of them are awesome except for a couple of them (mostly the small ones). The music when you're fighting them is just grand and fits what you're doing so well

The controls are actually much better than Last Guardian, and the camera is definitely better. Besides a couple of the colossi not being great, the horse controls arent great either. Also it can get a bit tedious going through areas you've already been through but those really arent huge issues I feel. I'm gonna also play the original because from what I've seen, the artstyle and atmosphere are definitely better there. This was tough to rate as I was contemplating either a 8.5 or a 9 but I'll go with an 8.5 for now. When I play the original, it will probably get a 9. Still though, what a great game.

"Has some of the best robot master levels in the series thus far, most of the robot masters are a joke but that's not a big deal. No, my main issue is the middle two Wily stages, they suck ass. This would have been my favorite in the series thus far if it wasnt for that, still good overall but man were those stages frustrating as hell. Also the final Wily fight, last stage to be specific, is kind of a crap shoot. Super hard not to get hit all of the time so you gotta hope you get moves that hit for the least amount of damage which isnt really fun tbh. Ending after that tho was pretty sick. Megaman 6 still the best classic megaman

After playing 8, in retrospect those wily stages probably weren't bad (I just suck) but the final boss still blows.

"I'm very glad I finally finished this game. It's been in my backlog for a long while, ever since its first day of release actually so it feels good that it's done. Even got the special edition back then too.

I was pretty excited for this game when I saw that Nintendo Switch presentation back in January 2017. I was a little skeptical at first because of the jarring artstyle but it was a sequel to my favorite jrpg of all time so of course I'd be excited. Well, sad to say, overall it was a pretty big disappointment.

That's not to say there arent things I like about this game. The music overall is pretty good, though it doesnt touch the 1st game's ost. Exploring the world is still pretty fun....when you dont have to use field skills. And the best aspect imo, the combat. Once you actually understand the combat and are able to use it to it's full potential (mostly on bosses and unique monsters) it's actually a blast and is better than the 1st games. It takes a while to understand it but once it clicks, it's great. Again, only really in long encounters like bosses or unique monsters. One last thing I liked about the game was how the ending played out, I thought it was pretty interesting.

Now for the bad things. I said it was fun to explore the world and it is fun. But you have to use field skills a lot of the time, a lot of them being mandatory and it really messes with the flow of things. It's not fun, just tedious. The game also doesn't really run well though it's on the Nintendo switch so that's to be expected. Something I really hated was the artstyle of most of the characters, it's just plain not good. The worst part of it is when you have the differing artstyle of the main cast versus the main villains. Its radically different and just looks awful when side by side. Speaking of the main cast, I didnt care for a single one of them. The main 3 you get from the start, Rex, Nia and Tora, are the 3 worst ones too. Zeke and Morag arent really bad like those 3, they just aren't interesting. Rex might be my least favorite protag ever, his voice is super grating but thats not surprising since Tora and Nia's VA are too. The VA in general isn't good except for Malos. The story takes a long while to get going, only near the very end chapter did I start to enjoy it. The couple chapters before that are just very tedious.

Of course, one of the biggest criticisms of this game are the horny characters/ generic anime tropes and yeah they really do suck. And it really really sucks that they still happen 30 hours into the game, only until the last couple chapters did I not see any cringy scenes like the beginning chapters.

I hated the combat when I first played it(a big reason for that is this game has the worst tutorials of all time, they dont properly explain the elemental orb mechanic well at all) and still to the end I didnt care for normal encounters because you barely get to use the combat to its full potential. While bosses and unique monsters were a lot of fun, normal encounters really weren't. The gacha aspect also majorly sucks, limiting your combat abilities to a gacha system, it's just so frustrating.

Something that isn't negative or positive is the fact they use the word awesome all the time, especially near the endgame. They had to have used it at least 20 times within the last couple chapters. Just thought it was kinda funny

All in all, a very disappointing game that I cant hate overall because the combat can be super fun when you know what you're doing. It may seem like I think this game is bad, and while a lot of it is, overall it's just extremely mediocre.

Also halfway in the game, I pulled Kos-Mos so that's cool I guess."

Morghini89: That's a shame, but it's all cool. Honestly I like the game a lot, but that's just me.
Aestmid: Interested to see how you'll feel about the third game. To me I feel like the third game goes back to the original roots of the first game.
(Yours Truly): That's what I've heard and it has me very excited for it
spiderfreak1011: Good review! I feel very similarly as you do with XB2, I really wanted to love this game but it feels like a lot of the story decisions spit in the face of Xenoblade 1 fans and what we loved about the first game and its awesome story. The combat I definitely think is better in 2 though.

I really think you'll enjoy Xenoblade 3 and Future Redeemed though! 3 is MUCH more like 1 story wise, no horniness and bad anime tropes here, much better voice acting too, and the character writing is a lot more interesting. I do think the plot and lore of base 3 do take a bit of a hit in comparison to 1, but the cast is really solid and the gameplay is very fun, and it answers a good amount of questions about the future of Klaus's world. Future Redeemed goes even further with this, but I'll leave it at that to avoid spoilers. I would say play the Xenoblade 1 Future Connected epilogue before you play 3 and Future Redeemed though, you'll get much more out of the story of both if you do.

Overall, 3 and FR feel like the REAL sequels to Xenoblade 1 we should've gotten originally, in so many ways. I hope you enjoy it whenever you check them out!
(Yours Truly): thanks! yeah im quite hyped for 3 and I have a good feeling I'll like it way more than 2. I'm gonna play future connected and also Torna first tho, not quite looking forward to those as much lol
spiderfreak1011: That's fair. Future Connected is just a fun 4-10 hour romp depending on how much time you want to spend in it, it doesn't overstay its welcome and it's thankfully free of XB2's bad writing tropes, it's more in line with how 1 was written in general. Torna is a big improvement over base 2 in both story and gameplay, there's only one cringe anime scene but the rest of the writing for the cast/overarching plot felt much more in line with 1 surprisingly, it felt like a more serious war story (even if it's not technically a war story, but it's written a lot like how 1 was in that regard tonally), and it's much better paced (it took me only 19 hours to beat doing a majority of the quests), so I think you'll enjoy it more. I doubt you'll enjoy Torna or FC more than 1 or 3, but I think you might be surprised to find they're a bit better than you think!
(Yours Truly): that's good to hear!
Serious: It really feels like everything bad about this game was a conscious choice by the developers. like they so easily could have just not included some stuff such as the field skills and anime tropes and it would have been so much better. there was nothing forcing them to do that they just implemented it cause ???

:Around on par with MM7, though I'd say I like that a bit more simply because it has a better ost and better robot master stages. MM8 is pretty fun, they definitely tried some new stage gimmicks and while some of them can be slightly annoying, they were all fun imo. The shmup stages especially were really fun. The voice acting is obviously awful, especially Dr. Light (jesus christ that's the worst VA I've ever heard) but the 90's anime cutscenes were pretty cool. Interesting to see that the final boss of 8, the final Wily phase that is, is pretty much the same as 7's except I'd say it was done better here. The ost is also pretty good tho it's much more chill/somber than most megaman games. The endgame is better than 7 I'd say but the game overall is not as good, still had a fun time tho!

Forgot to mention a couple things they added that were super cool. Refilling energy when you die is super great, showing the amount of weapon energy you have with an exact number is nice too. It's also the first classic megaman game that let's you save your game, just some nice features "

Near the beginning of my playthrough I honestly wasnt enjoying myself but as the game went on, it became more fun. It's basically MMX1 except there's more upgrades, less memorable levels and a huge downgrade of a soundtrack. Seriously, bubble crab was the best track in the game and I still prefer most tracks from the first game. The soundtrack being way worse is mostly why it's a 7, if it was better it would probably be an 8 but oh well. Still like I said, a lot of fun overall and probably my 2nd favorite MM game period...though MM6 is pretty close.

It's weird to say that considering it probably has the most bullshit moments in the series along with no slide or charged shot. Despite that, the music is great as always, the levels are probably the best in the classic series alongside 7 and the endgame bosses are actually really good. The boss weapons are all pretty cool too. The bullshit and downgrade to megaman 1/2 mechanics does hold it back but I had a good time with it. Dont think I'd play it again though because man could it be stressful.

6.5/10

Might actually bump this and MM7 to a 7. Those two along with 6 were my favorites thus far"

"One of the most atmospheric and depressing games ever, this game is truly one of a kind. My replay made me appreciate this game even more. Great cast of side characters, best set of dungeons in any zelda game, fantastic ost, and a memorable and unique story makes this one of the best games of all time. Peak Zelda"

"Years ago, probably like 2014, I played this game for the first time..thought it was good but dropped it after getting pretty far. Coming back to it in 2022 and actually beating it, I definitely liked it way more than I did before.

The atmosphere is pretty spectacular, every area is distinct and memorable. The soundtrack is way better than I gave it credit for back then, I cant believe I slept on it years ago. Finding secrets and solving puzzles in this game is a blast and probably my favorite part tbh. The combat isn't the greatest and it definitely feels weird if you're used to dual-stick controllers but you get used to it pretty quick. There is a fair bit of back-tracking and while it could be a little tiresome, it wasnt a huge deal honestly. Neither were the artifacts. This game is super impressive considering it came out in 2002, I was blown away by some of the visuals. The bosses are pretty good for the most part, the best one being the final boss.

I did get 100% in terms of items but I did not get all logs. I kinda wish I did but eh it's not a huge deal

All in all, great game and a pretty iconic one at that. Super glad I went back to it all these years later and saw it to the end."

"I was all ready to give this game a 5/10..until the endgame...

So I can definitely see how groundbreaking this game is and I actually had some fun near the middle but man, never play this without a guide. I personally used a guide and I'm glad I did, because youd never figure this shit out without one...at least not without backtracking and making the game three times as long.

The game itself is alright but the crypticness kinda kills it. That'd be fine right there but you literally have to start the game over/ go to an old save if you dont have max rank by the endgame. I learned this the hard way as I had to load an old save ( I accidentally killed two hostages in that one fight and dropped 2 ranks) and that shit is just frustrating. Still, I can certainly see what they were trying to go for but...I just didnt have a good time.

Also the music, while repetitive, ain't half bad.

Metal Gear 2 seems better but I'm just excited to get to MGS honestly lol"

"This seems to be the start of the downfall of the Megaman X series. I love X1, and thought X2 was good but a notable step down when compared to X1. This though, this is literally X2 but way worse. Gone are the interesting stages, now every stage is very bland. The music isnt memorable either, and I thought X2's ost was a big downgrade lmao. At least I can remember a song or two from that. The bosses also mostly suck too, having super easy patterns that you can cheese.

It also starts off kinda frustrating but becomes super braindead near the end. Gold armor breaks the game

Still, the actual gameplay is MMX gameplay, which is a lot of fun and is better than classic megaman but that doesnt help too much in this games favor. The Maverick designs though were actually really good and better than X2 imo. Some of the upgrades were pretty cool too like the upward dash.

I also got every upgrade except the Beam Saber.

I dont hate this game but man is it extremely mediocre, and that's sad when compared to the 2nd game and especially the 1st game. Apparently X4 is one of the best, so I'm crossing my fingers it's good. (I already heard some of the ost and it's a big step up from x2 and x3)"

"This and Galaxy 2 are two games I can always go back to no matter what. This time replaying Galaxy 1 however, I had an interesting experience.

Galaxy 2 is my favorite game of all time, I find it more fun than 1 and while I Iove 1, it never hit as hard as 2. So here I am replaying 1 and honestly feeling kinda negative towards it a bit. I realized that the game is super easy and that some of the stars I didnt care for. The comets were handled better in galaxy 2, those galaxies were more interesting etc etc, and it was kinda souring my experience a bit. I was still having a lot of fun but I kept telling myself I'd rather just play 2. Until I got to the ending/ Rosalina Storybook. I honestly cried during the storybook, I forgot just how heartfelt it was. After realizing how much heart they put into the story, I started having so much more fun. It made me appreciate the game way more. Galaxy 1 is a grand, atmospheric epic while Galaxy 2 is a atmospheric blast of a game to play. Galaxy 2 may have much needed improvements over 1, however 1 clearly has way more heart when it comes to its storytelling. I love both games and while 2 is still my favorite game ever, 1 holds a special place in my heart.

Edit: and as of now, Galaxy 1 is my favorite lol

Top 5 Galaxies: Gusty Garden, Buoy Base, Melty Molten, Space Junk, and Freezeflame."

LeonardoMF93:Do you really think Galaxy 2 is better than Odyssey?

I see Odyssey doing even better all the good things from Galaxy 1 and 2.
(Yours Truly): Yes most definitely they are. Odyssey is a great game and controls better but the immense amount of moons makes it somewhat tedious and less memorable than both galaxy games. It doesnt feel as special as those two either
LeonardoMF93:I see your point here.

It's too bad that we don't have a HD version for Galaxy 1 and 2 on Switch. Maybe I could change my mind playing them again.
paulohkang:Great review. I love how you went into your personal feelings towards 1 acknowledging its easy difficulty, with Galaxy 2 have most of its improvements. Then you brought up Rosalina's Storybook and the emotional depth that the first game offered and how much it has you appreciating it even more. And yeah, I do personally prefer Galaxy 1 more than 2. If anything, I love both of them in general.

P.S. I am passionately planning on doing my own (in-depth) review for both of these games. ^^
(Yours Truly): thank you so much! Both are my favorite games of all time and a lot of times it's hard to choose which I like more so I usually group them as 1 tho galaxy 1's atmosphere and story I do like a bit more now. Oh that's awesome, I'll be sure to read those when you write them!

"Wow this is way better than Metal Gear 1. It's still not great but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, especially near the end. Theres no worrying about ranking up or down anymore, and you can now get colored key cards that act as 3 cards in one. That coupled with the fact that the areas and bosses are way more interesting, make this a big improvement over 1. The story is something I was actually interested in now too, its nothing amazing nowadays but for the time, it definitely was. There is some backtracking, especially near the end which kinda stinks but I can totally see the vision now. The music was also pretty cool too. Tempted to give it a 7 but eh I'll give it a 6.5. Gameplay still isnt anything to write home about lol"

"So in this game, you either walk obnoxiously slow or you spin dash and go all over the place. None of the levels were good, but most of them weren't super obnoxious. Only the last one was and it was terrible. Oh also the bosses are awful too, especially the middle two. The hitbox on the 2-4 boss feels completely broken. I cant say it's the worst game I've ever played, and I dont have strong feelings against it since it was like only an hour long, but yeah it's bad lol. Worst game I've played this year thus far."

My final score was 476,990

Also, I definitely wouldnt be able to do this legit lmao so I did a save state(courtesy of mega collection plus) before each level. Arcade games amirite "

"Very nice looking game that's pretty fun to play. However, 6-1 and the miniboss at the end I did not like and the final boss I hated(seriously, I had to save state that shit). Other than that it was fun. The bosses, for the most part, were pretty cool. The different ways you could use your stretchy arms to do shit was rad as hell. I'm excited to play more Genesis games now after enjoying this and Sonic 1-3.

On second thought, bumping it down to a 5.5/10"

Weatherby: Final boss was irritating to me until I realized you have to wait until the screen darkens, then mash up-right with your attack. He'll always appear slightly right of center, and spamming your attack will cause you to hit him before he can initiate his. It still doesn't feel great, though. The final boss has some good ideas but the execution just ain't there.
(Yours Truly): Yeah overall the game was aight
